Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer Job Description The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, specification, and implementation of fire protection and gas detection systems for major LNG, refinery, petrochemical, and industrial facilities. This role supports multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensures that all fire and gas systems comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and client requirements, contributing directly to the safety and reliability of large-scale projects. Responsibilities
- Design firewater distribution systems and firewater pumping facilities to protect large industrial assets and infrastructure.
- Develop comprehensive fire and gas detection philosophies that address facility layouts, process hazards, and operational requirements.
- Perform hazardous area classification studies to identify and document zones with potential fire or explosion risks.
- Prepare detailed equipment specifications and technical requisitions for fire protection and gas detection systems.
- Conduct fire risk assessments and consequence analyses to evaluate potential scenarios and support risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in model reviews, HAZOPs, and interdisciplinary design reviews to ensure robust, integrated safety system designs.
- Review vendor packages and coordinate equipment integration activities with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
- Provide construction support, including responding to field queries and reviewing installation practices for compliance with design intent.
- Assist with commissioning activities for fire protection and gas detection systems, ensuring proper functionality and alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with project engineering teams to support large-scale EPC projects across oil, gas, LNG, refinery, and petrochemical sectors.
- Ensure all designs and deliverables align with relevant NFPA, API, FM Global, and ISA standards and client specifications.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in Fire Protection or Fire & Gas Engineering.
- Proven experience in the design and implementation of fire protection and gas detection systems for industrial facilities.
- Strong understanding of NFPA standards related to fire protection and life safety.
- Strong understanding of API standards applicable to oil, gas, and petrochemical facilities.
- Strong understanding of FM Global guidelines for industrial risk and loss prevention.
- Strong understanding of ISA standards relevant to instrumentation and control in fire and gas detection systems.
- Experience supporting large-scale EPC projects in oil, gas, LNG, refinery, or petrochemical environments.
- Experience with firewater distribution systems and firewater pumping facilities.
- Ability to perform hazardous area classification studies and fire risk assessments.
- Ability to prepare equipment specifications and technical requisitions for fire and gas systems.
- Ability to participate effectively in HAZOPs, model reviews, and interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Strong project engineering skills, including coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Work Environment This role is based in an office environment, working on-site five days per week in close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams. Work involves using standard engineering software tools, participating in design and model review meetings, and coordinating with construction and commissioning personnel as needed. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $100.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
