Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician Job Description The Quality Assurance Technician supports the quality assurance department by monitoring quality control measures during production to ensure all food safety, product specifications, and customer standards are consistently met. This role verifies that raw materials and finished products meet quality and labeling requirements, conducts sensory and visual evaluations, and maintains accurate documentation. The technician works closely with production teams to resolve issues, uphold regulatory and company standards, and contribute to continuous improvement in food safety and product quality. Responsibilities
- Verify that raw materials and finished products meet established quality, safety, and labeling requirements.
- Conduct sensory and visual evaluations to confirm products meet defined specifications and standards.
- Support process controls by monitoring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), critical control points (CCPs), weights, labels, and temperature checks.
- Investigate and document nonconformances, including implementing quality assurance hold procedures when necessary.
- Review batch records and production documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with documentation audits to ensure records are properly maintained and reflect current processes.
- Support sanitation verification activities to confirm cleaning procedures meet food safety standards.
- Assist with environmental monitoring by collecting, reviewing, and documenting data related to facility conditions.
- Maintain quality assurance databases, reports, and documentation in an organized and timely manner.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production and other departments to resolve issues impacting food safety or product quality.
- Monitor in-process quality checks during production to ensure consistent adherence to product specifications and customer requirements.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improving food safety, quality processes, and overall compliance.
- Communicate quality issues, findings, and recommendations clearly to team members and supervisors.
- Follow all facility procedures and guidelines to support a safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
- Associate degree (AA) or equivalent, or 6 months to 1 year of related quality assurance or manufacturing experience.
- Experience in quality assurance or quality control within a food manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and standard food manufacturing practices.
- Ability to perform detailed inspections, sensory evaluations, and documentation reviews with high accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong focus on documentation accuracy and record-keeping.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to cross-functional teams.
- Effective teamwork skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform job duties in variable temperature conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Experience conducting environmental monitoring and sanitation verification in a food manufacturing facility.
- Familiarity with critical control points (CCPs), temperature checks, and other food safety process controls.
- Ability to analyze quality data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks, records, and priorities.
- Comfort working with quality assurance databases and reporting tools.
Work Environment This position is based in a food manufacturing facility that operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role involves working on the production floor and in quality assurance areas, with exposure to variable temperature conditions typical of food processing environments. The technician regularly moves between production lines and QA workstations to perform inspections, checks, and documentation tasks, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as part of routine duties. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, with a strong emphasis on food safety, regulatory compliance, and teamwork. Employees follow established GMPs, hygiene protocols, and safety procedures to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant facility.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Agawam, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
