The position involves detailed mechanical calculations, vendor interface and oversight, and close collaboration with piping and structural teams, as well as participation in site reviews, inspections, and commissioning activities.
Responsibilities
- Design and specify fixed equipment, including pressure vessels, columns, vaporizers, and associated supports for LNG, cryogenic, and power projects.
- Prepare and review mechanical datasheets, vessel calculations, nozzle designs, nozzle load checks, and fabrication details to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Execute pressure and mechanical design in accordance with ASME Section VIII, API standards, and LNG-specific codes and relevant international standards.
- Interface with vendors by issuing RFQs, evaluating technical proposals, reviewing vendor drawings, and ensuring quality control of all mechanical deliverables.
- Manage vendor queries and coordinate responses to maintain project schedule and technical integrity.
- Support piping and structural engineering teams with equipment layout, loadings, and installation requirements, ensuring proper integration of mechanical equipment.
- Participate in site reviews to verify constructability, equipment placement, and adherence to design specifications.
- Conduct or support pre-fabrication inspections to confirm compliance with design, fabrication practices, welding procedures, and non-destructive examination requirements.
- Provide commissioning support for mechanical equipment, including resolving design-related issues identified during start-up and testing.
- Apply knowledge of piping flexibility and support interactions in equipment design to ensure reliable and safe operation.
- Utilize pressure vessel design tools and FEA fundamentals to perform and validate mechanical analyses.
- Collaborate across disciplines and communicate clearly with project stakeholders to coordinate mechanical design activities.
