JOB SUMMAR Y
The Skinner Lab at Northeastern University seeks an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to start in February 2026. The primary responsibility of the postdoc is to perform basic or applied research of a limited scope, primarily using existing theories and methods, ensuring that the research is complete. The candidate will assist the supervisor in the interpretation and publication of results and grants, assist in maintaining the laboratory, and may exercise functional supervision over supporting research staff. The appointment is for two years and may be extended for an additional 1-2 years, depending on continuation of funding and regular progress evaluation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should have strong problem-solving skills and be highly motivated. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology or a closely-related field.
Previous experience with molecular biology techniques (Western blots, qPCR/RNAseq), experience with gene editing(CRISPR), and DNA manipulation, are all preferred.
The candidate should have hands-on experience with metabolomics samples preparation and measurement by LC/MS or GC/MS.
A demonstrated proficiency in protein chemistry and protein biophysical analysis are also preferred. Prior experience with native or intact mass spectrometry is not required but would be valuable should it exist.
A willingness to learn advanced metabolomics and proteomics techniques to uncover cellular metabolic regulation will be needed.
Technical expertise in modern chromatography methodologies and techniques, good computer skills and data analysis experience are all desirable.
The best candidates will have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
The level and mixture of the duties may vary by position but typically include a combination of the following responsibilities.
- Assist in initiating, executing, and completing research and experiments.
- Prepare and write research papers, presentations, grant proposals, etc.
- Assist in laboratory management.
- Help train students.

Expected Hiring Range:
$60,315.00 - $85,192.50
