About the Role
The Senior Manager, Tax Planning, Transfer Pricing & International Tax is a key leadership position responsible for developing and executing the Company's global tax strategy, transfer pricing framework, and tax compliance for jurisdictions outside the United States (“OUS”). This highly visible position will serve as a strategic business partner to Finance, FP&A, Legal, Treasury, Operations, and commercial leaders, providing practical tax guidance on business initiatives, operating-model changes, intercompany arrangements, geographic expansion, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions.
The position will lead transfer pricing strategy and OUS compliance; evaluate the tax implications of business initiatives; support legal entity and supply chain changes; and identify tax-efficient structures that align with business objectives while managing risk. The Senior Manager will also monitor global legislative developments and emerging tax regulations, including Pillar Two and other international tax reforms. In addition, the Senior Manager will partner with the Tax Accounting lead to model the effective tax rate, cash tax, and risk objectives and will oversee non-U.S. direct tax matters in partnership with local finance teams and external advisors. The position will translate evolving business facts and tax law into clear recommendations, governance, controls, and timely inputs for tax accounting, compliance, forecasting, and executive decision-making.
This position will lead internal team members and external service providers, develop talent, establish scalable processes, and promote collaboration across the global tax function. This position will report to the Head of Tax.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Planning
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of MiniMed’s products, legal entities, value chain, intellectual property, manufacturing footprint, intercompany flows, distribution model, and key business initiatives.
- Lead global tax planning by identifying, modeling, recommending, and implementing practical strategies that support business growth, effective tax rate, cash tax, and risk-management objectives.
- Advise business and functional leaders on the tax implications of operating-model changes, supply-chain initiatives, manufacturing and sourcing decisions, market entry, legal-entity changes, financing, intellectual property, acquisitions, divestitures, and integrations.
Transfer Pricing
- Oversee MiniMed’s global transfer pricing framework, including policies, functional analyses, economic studies, intercompany agreements, pricing methodologies, governance, documentation, and audit defense.
- Partner with Finance and local controllers to establish, monitor, and adjust intercompany prices for products, services, royalties, financing, and other related-party transactions so results remain aligned with business facts, contractual terms, and the arm’s-length principle.
- Oversee quarterly transfer pricing forecasting and monitoring, explain jurisdictional or entity-level results, coordinate prospective or true-up adjustments, and communicate impacts to Tax Accounting, FP&A, Controllership, and senior leadership.
OUS Compliance
- Oversee OUS direct tax matters, including tax planning, local-country risk assessments, technical consultations, tax authority inquiries, controversy support, withholding-tax considerations, and coordination of return and payment requirements with internal owners and external advisors.
- Oversee OUS indirect tax matters, including VAT/GST, sales and use taxes, customs and duties, indirect tax registrations and filings, audit and controversy support, process and control governance, and coordination with local finance teams and external advisors to assess business changes and manage compliance and risk.
- Monitor and assess OUS legislative, regulatory, treaty, OECD, and global minimum-tax developments; quantify impacts and ensure timely communication to Tax Accounting, Finance, and business stakeholders.
- Provide input to the quarterly and annual income tax provision, OUS tax rates, enacted-law changes, uncertain tax positions, cash-tax items, Pillar Two considerations, and discrete transactions.
- Support tax audits and controversies by developing technical positions, coordinating responses, maintaining examination-ready documentation, managing advisors, and recommending resolution strategies.
- Manage external advisors, project scope, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and technical quality; identify opportunities to improve processes, data, systems, analytics, and internal ownership.
- Develop team capability through coaching, delegation, feedback, knowledge sharing, and documented procedures while fostering an accountable, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA, J.D., LL.M. in Taxation, Master of Taxation, or comparable advanced degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive U.S. federal and international income tax experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years with a relevant advanced degree.
- Significant experience in tax planning and transfer pricing, including policy design, financial modeling, intercompany agreements, operational implementation, documentation, and audit support.
- Experience leading OUS tax matters across multiple jurisdictions and coordinating with local finance teams and external advisors.
- Experience in a multinational corporate tax department, public accounting firm, or law firm; medical technology, manufacturing, or regulated-industry experience is preferred.
- Experience managing large global special projects or teams is preferred.
Nice to Have
- Technical depth: Strong knowledge of U.S. and international income tax principles, transfer pricing regulations and OECD guidance, tax treaties, withholding taxes, and global tax developments. Familiarity with tax accounting, effective tax rate, cash-tax forecasting, and Pillar Two is highly desirable.
- Business partnership: Demonstrated ability to understand complex operating models and translate technical tax matters into clear, practical recommendations for non-tax stakeholders.
- Analytical capability: Advanced financial modeling, research, judgment, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate multiple scenarios and communicate key assumptions, risks, and value drivers.
- Systems and process orientation: Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP, consolidation, tax provision, data, and workflow tools; SAP and OneStream experience is preferred.
- Communication and influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to build trust, challenge constructively, negotiate, and influence across functions, geographies, and levels of the organization.
- Leadership and execution: Operates with significant autonomy, prioritizes effectively in a changing environment, manages complex global projects, develops talent, and consistently delivers high-quality work on time.
- Communication and Influence: Develops long term strategic relationships and alliances with key internal and external stakeholders. Communicates and conducts briefings with senior or executive leadership regarding ongoing operations and strategic initiatives. Influences across functions to analyze, negotiate and gain cooperation on business and tax strategies. Can deliver difficult messages directly.
- Organizational Impact : Leads the development of the strategies for Operating Units, ensuring links to the company’s goals and objectives. Manages with authority to make business decisions. Not afraid to ask questions and can work independently. Communicates simply and clearly to all stakeholders.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):136,000.00 - 230,000.00
For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $150,000 - $256,000 USD.
Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
