About the Role:

Everest Insurance is seeking an Underwriter, Public Entity to join our growing Public Entity team. This role will be responsible for underwriting and managing a nationwide portfolio of Public Entity business while driving profitable growth, building strong broker relationships, and executing underwriting strategies aligned with Everest's risk appetite and business objectives. The successful candidate will partner closely with internal stakeholders and external trading partners to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional service to clients across the public sector marketplace.

Role & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

- Triage and review insurance submissions and seek to provide terms and conditions .
- Prepare insurance proposals based upon informed judgment and market/litigation conditions and state immunity/tort laws.
- Responsibility for the team effort of profitable development of the Public Entity portfolio.
- Execute strategy with a focus on the management of risk while driving business growth and achieving profit objectives.
- Contribute to the delivery of all key metrics.
- Participate in continuing education courses to remain knowledgeable and competitive in the industry.
- Organize external meetings with brokers and clients to build rapport with insureds and brokers and articulate/demonstrate the value and strength of the Everest Insurance organization.
- Organize internal meetings with specialists (loss control, claims, actuarial) to gain insight into unique circumstances.
- Help create a work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation, and cooperation.

Qualifications :

- Accountability for the underwriting of an assigned book of business and accounts within the Public Entity line of business nationwide.
- Strong Word and Excel skills and ability to use necessary proprietary software/tools.
- Support the successful execution of the Public Entity plan; adjusting strategies and actions to meet the needs of a changing marketplace; effectively preserve and enhance profitability through product development and enhancement; pricing discipline, competitive analysis and the development of business-enhancing performance metrics and controls.
- Excellent negotiation skills and strategies.
- Ability to multitask and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies :

- Bachelor’s college degree with 3 -5 years of experience in the insurance industry and preferably minimum 1 year within Public Entity space.
- Demonstrated ability to generate profitable new business and proven record of delivering meaningful underwriting profit.
- Proven people skills, and a team player.
- Highly collaborative and able to work effectively with peers.
- Strong technical background, problem solving analytical skills, and ability to connect data analytics with strategic deliverables to drive underwriting strategy.
- Able to work in Everest field office a minimum of 3 days per week
- Ability to travel 20% of the year across the United States for conferences and client meetings.
- Excellent negotiation skills and strategies.
- Able to work and contribute as part of a team.
- Additional specific experience as required by specific Line of Business/Role responsibilities.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
