The Senior Director of Warehouse Operations will lead the establishment, activation, and ongoing optimization of a centralized, world-class warehouse operation within Leidos. This role will be responsible for developing the warehouse strategy and operating model; planning and designing the facility; rationalizing existing stockroom footprints; transferring and acquiring material-handling equipment; establishing the organization and staffing model; and implementing the processes, technology, and performance management systems required to support a safe, efficient, scalable, and cost-effective operation.

The Senior Director will lead the transformation from distributed warehouse and stockroom operations into an integrated centralized capability, ensuring the operation is designed to support current requirements while providing flexibility and capacity for future growth. The position will work closely with Manufacturing Senior Leadership, Safety, Supply Chain, and Finance to establish a high-performing warehouse organization aligned with Leidos' operational and business objectives.

Essential Functions

- Lead the planning, design, activation, and operationalization of a centralized brownfield warehouse facility, including layout, material flow, storage strategy, capacity planning, infrastructure, and operational requirements.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive warehouse transition strategy, including sequencing and coordination of equipment, inventory, personnel, and processes from existing stockrooms and facilities.
- Evaluate, rationalize, and consolidate existing stockroom footprints to improve space utilization, material flow, inventory visibility, and operating efficiency.
- Lead the transfer, acquisition, installation, and optimization of material-handling equipment, including storage systems, racks, lifts, conveyors, automation, and other warehouse infrastructure.
- Develop the warehouse organizational structure, including roles, responsibilities, staffing requirements, shift structures, management layers, and workforce capabilities.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing warehouse organization capable of delivering world-class safety, quality, cost, delivery, inventory accuracy, and customer service performance.
- Establish financial plans, operating budgets, capital requirements, and recurring cost forecasts for the warehouse operation.
- Develop and implement warehouse and inventory performance metrics and KPIs, including inventory accuracy, space utilization, throughput, productivity, order fulfillment, cycle time, on-time performance, safety, and cost.
- Establish a robust operating cadence for monitoring performance, identifying gaps, and driving continuous improvement.
- Assess current and emerging warehouse technologies and lead the identification, business-case development, and insertion of appropriate technology solutions.
- Evaluate opportunities for warehouse management systems, inventory-management tools, automation, scanning/barcoding, data analytics, and other technologies that improve visibility, accuracy, productivity, and scalability.
- Establish standardized warehouse processes, procedures, controls, and best practices across the centralized operation.
- Partner with Finance and Supply Chain leadership to develop business cases, investment strategies, cost models, and return-on-investment analyses.
- Coordinate with Facilities, Engineering, IT, Safety, Quality, Security, and other functional organizations to ensure the warehouse is designed and activated in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Establish inventory-control practices that improve accuracy, traceability, material availability, and accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean principles, process optimization, standard work, visual management, and data-driven problem solving.
- Establish and maintain a culture of accountability, safety, operational excellence, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Provide executive leadership with regular reporting on warehouse activation progress, capacity, staffing, investment, operating performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Leidos policies, applicable regulatory requirements, safety standards, quality systems, and contractual obligations.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, Logistics, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, supply chain, or material-management operations, including significant leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience establishing, consolidating, or transforming warehouse operations, preferably in a complex manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with facility planning, warehouse layout, material flow, capacity planning, and material-handling equipment.
- Experience developing organizational structures, staffing models, operating budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale operational transitions involving facilities, equipment, inventory, processes, and personnel.
- Experience establishing operational KPIs and performance-management systems.
- Strong financial, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and working effectively with senior leadership.
- Strong communication, organizational, and change-management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-growth environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience establishing a centralized warehouse from an existing/brownfield facility.
- Experience within aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, inventory-management technologies, automation, and warehouse analytics.
- Experience with Costpoint ERP, Solumina MES, and Windchill PLM.
- Lean, Six Sigma, APICS/ASCM, or other relevant professional certification.
- Experience with facility consolidation, stockroom rationalization, or multi-site warehouse transformation.
- Experience developing and implementing technology roadmaps for warehouse operations.

Pay Range $130,000.00 - $235,000.00
