This Chemical Technician position focuses on conducting laboratory catalytic testing and analytical testing using gas chromatography (GC) to support advanced recycling of plastic waste. The role is ideal for an early-career scientist who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, problem solving, and using experimental data to draw clear scientific conclusions. The Chemical Technician will process and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot experimental and analytical systems, and clearly communicate results to research teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory experiments and routine testing in support of advanced recycling of plastic waste.
- Prepare, operate, and monitor laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Perform analytical testing using gas chromatography (GC) and related techniques to characterize samples and processes.
- Collect, process, and analyze experimental and analytical data, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Interpret analytical data and relate results to experimental conditions to support scientific conclusions.
- Troubleshoot experimental setups, analytical instrumentation, methods, and unexpected results to maintain high data quality.
- Support the development and improvement of experimental and analytical methods to enhance laboratory capabilities.
- Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records, including experimental conditions, observations, results, and data analysis.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality-control activities to ensure reliable operation of laboratory equipment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline.
- 0.52 years of relevant laboratory experience, which may include academic research, internships, co-ops, or professional experience.
- Hands-on experience conducting laboratory experiments and routine testing in a chemistry or analytical laboratory environment.
- Experience with gas chromatography (GC), including operation and basic method use.
- Experience with Agilent gas chromatography (GC) instrumentation.
- Ability to collect, process, and analyze experimental and analytical data with attention to detail.
- Experience interpreting analytical data and relating results to experimental conditions.
- Familiarity with instrument troubleshooting and data-processing software.
- Strong analytical chemistry skills, including sample handling and preparation.
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete laboratory records and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background or coursework in analytical chemistry and laboratory techniques.
- Experience working with laboratory instrumentation beyond GC is beneficial.
- Interest in advanced recycling of plastic waste and related chemical processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting experimental and analytical systems.
- Effective communication skills for sharing results and conclusions with research teams.
- Ability to work carefully and systematically in a laboratory setting, following established procedures and safety practices.
Work Environment

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Conshohocken, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
