About this role

We are seeking a skilled Real Estate Accountant to manage the financial operations of multiple related entities. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial recording and effective management of accounting tasks. This role offers a dynamic opportunity for growth and development within a vibrant industry. Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple related entities, ensuring accurate transaction recording and allocation.
- Oversee intercompany transactions, loans, billing, and reconciliations while maintaining organized financial records.
- Collaborate closely with company ownership to understand the impact of business activities on financials.
- Review, code, approve, and process invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
- Resolve coding discrepancies, duplicate invoices, and payment inquiries efficiently.
- Manage daily cash activities across multiple bank accounts and entities, monitoring cash flow and upcoming obligations.
- Process rent payments, ACH transactions, credit card activities, and ensure accurate bank reconciliations.
- Communicate significant cash activities and obligations with ownership.
- Take ownership of the month-end close for all entities, preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Prepare monthly sales and use tax calculations, filings, and payments.
- Assist with tax registrations, annual Wisconsin DFI filings, and manage fixed asset and depreciation records.
- Track real estate expenses and support material inventory accounting.

Essential Skills

- Proficiency in generalized accounting with a strong grasp of GAAP and general ledger practices.
- Experience with reconciliation, month-end procedures, and preparing journal entries.
- Real estate accounting experience is preferred, along with familiarity with ERP systems, especially SAGE.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in multi-entity accounting, with a preference for those with construction or real estate backgrounds.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cottage Grove, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
