What You'll Do
As a Line Cook, you'll help prepare and serve meals throughout Arbor Acres dining operations by:
- Preparing entrees, vegetables, starches, soups, desserts, breakfast items, and other menu offerings
- Producing thoughtfully prepared, properly seasoned, and attractively presented meals
- Preparing meals that meet specific dietary needs and physician-ordered restrictions
- Following recipes, production standards, and portion guidelines
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation
- Properly labeling, dating, and storing food items
- Assisting with catering and special events as needed
- Following all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and quality standards
- Supporting meal service in healthcare dining environments
- Collaborating closely with fellow Culinary Artists, dietary staff, and leadership to deliver an exceptional resident experience
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, hospitality, senior living, or similar food service environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within six months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous healthcare, long-term care, rehabilitation, hospital, or senior living dining experience
- Experience preparing texture-modified diets, therapeutic diets, or meals for residents with dietary restrictions
- Experience working with specialized meal plans and dietary guidelines
- Batch cooking or high-volume meal production experience
- Bilingual is a plus, but not required
Schedule
This is a full-time position.
Typical schedule:
- Primarily evening shifts
- Typical hours are 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Additional hours may be required for special events and catering functions.
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Holidays required as scheduled
Arbor Acres operates 365 days a year , and team members are expected to be dependable and committed to supporting resident dining services year-round.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and lifting
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push carts exceeding 100 pounds
- Ability to work in hot kitchen environments and refrigerated areas
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and commercial kitchen equipment
