About this role

Output has built a biological reasoning model that understands biology at the scale and complexity life actually operates. Our model independently learned the principles of molecular interactions, opening up drug treatments that were previously impossible. We're already generating therapies that traditional approaches cannot reach. The hardest problems in both AI and biology are being solved here, and there is room for you to help bring it to the world.

Output is currently in stealth, operated by a team of repeat founders and biotech veterans with multiple exits in AI x Bio, and backed by top-tier VCs including Y Combinator.

You will own the groundwork behind every partnership Output pursues — finding the right partners, understanding what each would want, and getting us to the table prepared.

You'll work closely with our founders — among them a former large-pharma VP of Business Development — bringing them in at the right moment. It's a chance to build the partnering engine from the ground up, alongside people who have done this at scale.

In this role, you will:

- Map the partner landscape in drug discovery — research and identify pharma and biotech organizations whose therapeutic focus, computational maturity, and deal appetite align with what Output offers, across both platform and asset partnerships.
- Map partners beyond drug discovery — research infrastructure and compute providers and large technology and AI organizations, and surface where a partnership with Output could make sense.
- Own the pipeline — build and maintain target lists, account plans, and a prioritized pipeline, applying judgment about fit so the founders' time goes only to the opportunities worth pursuing.
- Prepare partner-ready materials — translate Output's capabilities into the language each partner understands.
- Build and maintain the network — develop contacts across different ecosystems, and represent Output at partnering conferences and industry events.
- Run the meeting cycle — prepare the founders for partner conversations, join the meetings, and handle follow-up, next steps, and coordination so nothing stalls.
- Connect science and partners — coordinate between Output's science and technology teams and prospective partners, scoping what each partnership would require and making sure partner feedback reaches the right people internally.

About You

- You have 3+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or a related commercial role in biotech, pharma, or life sciences.
- You understand the drug discovery landscape: how pharma organizations are structured, how they evaluate partnerships and new therapeutic assets, and how deals in this space are typically structured.
- You can operate across different partner worlds — pharma and biotech, and the broader AI and technology ecosystem — and get up to speed quickly on how each evaluates and structures partnerships.
- You are a strong writer who can synthesize complex scientific and commercial information into clear, credible materials for both scientific and technical audiences.
- You are a natural networker, energized by building relationships and a contact base across the pharma, biotech, and AI ecosystems.
- You are highly organized and follow-through oriented: you track every conversation, every next step, and every open item without being asked.
- You are comfortable working closely with founders and adapting quickly as partnership priorities shift and new opportunities emerge.
- You communicate clearly across technical and commercial audiences, and can hold your own in conversations about drug discovery and AI without needing to be a scientist.
- You exercise good judgment about fit and are comfortable in a selective partnering culture where surfacing the right few opportunities matters more than volume.

Bonus Points

- You have an existing network and direct contacts in pharma or biotech business development and R&D.
- You have direct experience supporting pharma partnerships, licensing deals, or research collaborations.
- You have exposure to partnerships or business development in the broader technology or AI sector, not only life sciences.
- You have a background in life sciences consulting, healthcare investment banking, or venture capital.
- You have a scientific degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- You have experience at a stealth or early-stage company where you built BD processes from scratch.
- You have familiarity with the AI-for-drug-discovery landscape and the key players in it.
