Mechanical Superintendent

About the Role

Kelso Southwest is looking for an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects.

This is a hands-on field leadership role for someone who knows how to run work, lead crews, coordinate with other trades, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently. The Superintendent will work closely with Project Managers and project leadership to execute work from mobilization through completion.

We're looking for a proven mechanical construction leader who understands the field and can take ownership of people, production, schedule, quality, and safety .

What You'll Do

- Lead day-to-day field operations for assigned mechanical construction projects.

- Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors to meet project schedules.

- Direct and support foremen and field crews while establishing clear expectations for production and quality.

- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements to plan upcoming work.

- Develop short-term field plans and look-ahead schedules to ensure crews are prepared for upcoming activities.

- Coordinate mechanical work with general contractors, other trades, vendors, and project stakeholders.

- Monitor field productivity and identify issues that could impact schedule, labor, or project performance.

- Partner with Project Managers on manpower planning, procurement, scheduling, change conditions, and overall project execution.

- Ensure installation meets drawings, specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

- Identify constructability issues and field conflicts early and work with the project team to develop solutions.

- Maintain accurate daily reports and field documentation.

- Participate in project meetings, coordination meetings, and planning sessions.

- Support commissioning, punch-list completion, turnover, and project closeout.

- Set expectations for safe execution of the work and hold field teams accountable for following company and project safety requirements.

- Build strong relationships with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, and field teams.

What We're Looking For

- 7+ years of commercial or industrial mechanical construction experience with progressive field leadership responsibility.

- Previous experience as a Superintendent, General Foreman, or senior mechanical field leader .

- Strong knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC, mechanical piping, hydronic systems, and related mechanical construction.

- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.

- Proven ability to lead multiple crews and foremen on complex projects.

- Strong understanding of manpower planning, productivity, sequencing, and scheduling.

- Experience coordinating mechanical work with electrical, plumbing, structural, and other trades.

- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to build accountability while maintaining strong relationships with field personnel.

- Willingness to travel or work at project locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with large commercial, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, semiconductor, or mission-critical projects.

- Experience managing both piping and HVAC scopes.

- Experience with prefabrication and BIM/VDC-supported construction.

- OSHA 30.

- Experience working on projects with aggressive schedules and multiple concurrent work fronts.
