About this role

Amentum is seeking a dynamic and agile Concepts Strategic Planner to support Theater Army transformation efforts by driving complex, requirement‑focused analysis under the U.S. Army-Pacific (USARPAC) Concepts Directorate on Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

The position involves coordinating with PACOM, Army transformation and training organizations, the Department of the Army, sister services, and subordinate commands. Key responsibilities include contributing to force ‑ modernization planning, advising on future technology integration, and assessing the feasibility of incorporating emerging capabilities, Concepts of Operation (CONOPS), Concepts of Employment (CONEMPS), and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) into theater ‑ level wargames. This position may also represent the directorate during Operational Planning Teams (OPTs), In Progress Reviews (IPRs), After Action Reviews (AARs), wargames, conferences, and cross ‑ time ‑ zone meetings.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

- Aid senior-level strategic planning, discussions, and briefings including preparing formal papers and background information for USARPAC and USPACOM senior leader consumption.
- Develop innovative approaches to address service component gaps regarding novel, multi-domain, and/or autonomous solutions for inclusion in wargames and analysis venues.
- Make independent decisions within established guidelines while managing highly sensitive information.
- Utilize experience and knowledge to execute the Pacific Innovation & Persistent Experimentation LINEup (PIPELINE) process.

- Navigate complex organizational structures to assist in determining roadmaps that may lead to capability solutions relevant to USARPAC priorities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Approximately 25% travel annually, to Mainland U.S. and Allied and Partner nations, in support of conferences, planning sessions, and exercises.

Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree
- 15+ years of experience with defense operations
- 5+ years of experience with operational planning and OPLAN writing at the theater or Joint level in the Pacific theater
- 5+ years of experience with operational and strategic future, including wargames and the Pacific theater
- Graduate of a School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMs) or JAWs
- Experience running Boards, Bureaus, Centers, Cells, and Working Groups (B2C2WG), writing reports, and regularly briefing senior military leaders
- Experience writing and testing future concepts, using Microsoft Office products, and integrating AI tools into workflow
- Knowledge of the Army Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) and its associated Joint Planning and Execution Process (JOPES)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must have an active Top-Secret clearance and be SCI eligible. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's Degree

- Experience in the Army
- Experience with the joint targeting cycle and associated network considerations
- Experience in artillery, infantry, intelligence, or special operations
- Knowledge of Army modernization plans and processes
- Knowledge of multi-domain operations doctrine
- Familiar with Artificial Intelligence tools to improve daily work flows and gain efficiencies to add value to client requirements

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $140k - $165k (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Compensation Details:
$140,000.00 - $165,000.00
