Collateral Senior Analyst
• Location: Midtown, NY
• Work Arrangement: hybrid working expectations
• The hourly rate for this role is between $100,000.00 - $150,000.00
The Opportunity
As a Collateral Treasury Senior Analyst within Group Treasury, you will play a key role in supporting the oversight, execution, and continuous improvement of QBE’s global collateral management processes. You will be responsible for capturing business requirements, operational processes, and contributing to the overall enhancement of our collateral management business. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage complex collateral-related processes and projects.
Your new role
- Independently validate offshore completion of collateral balance reviews and assist with variance investigation, root causes and coordination of timely resolution with stakeholders.
- Independently coordinate loss portfolio transfer (LPT) settlement working with investment, accounting, treasury and counterparties to support collateral governance, reporting, and issue resolution.
- Independently coordinate collateral settlement activity, including wire instructions, bank letters, account movements, approvals, and related documentation in accordance with internal controls and authority levels.
- Review, interpret and monitor investment management authorities (IMAs) requirements exercising judgment, including permitted investments, ratings requirements and compliance exceptions.
- Support complex strategic reinsurance transactions and initiatives for QBE, including loss portfolio transfers.
- Review and maintain collateral-related agreements and documentation, including trust agreements, reporting requirements and operational procedures.
- Support counterparty and service provider relationships, including custodians, trustees, investment managers, reinsurers, and internal business partners, to resolve operational issues and improve collateral processes.
- Prepare and analyze collateral reporting for senior management and other stakeholders, highlighting key movements, exceptions, emerging risks and required actions.
- Lead or contribute to collateral-related projects, including process standardization, control enhancements, system improvements, audit remediation, regulatory readiness, and strategic transaction support.
- Evaluate existing collateral management processes and controls, recommend enhancements, and support implementation of improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, risk management, and compliance.
- Monitor regulatory, contractual, and market developments impacting collateral management and assess implications for QBE’s collateral processes, reporting, controls, and governance framework.
- Design, document, and implement new collateral processes, procedures, controls, and reporting standards to support evolving business needs and strengthen operational resilience.
- Provide subject matter expertise on collateral requirements across reinsurance, treasury, investment, and regulatory reporting activities.
- Identify and escalate collateral risks, control gaps, reporting discrepancies, and compliance issues, while recommending practical remediation actions.
- Support audit, compliance, and governance activities by preparing documentation, evidence, process narratives, and management responses.
- Partner with technology and operations teams to enhance collateral data quality, reporting automation, workflow efficiency, and system controls.
- Mentor junior team members or business partners on collateral processes, documentation standards, reporting expectations, and control requirements.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4-7 years of business analysis experience in treasury, collateral management, investment operations, reinsurance operations, financial services, insurance, or a related control-focused function.
- Strong understanding of collateral management, investment operations, custody, trust structures, letters of credit, reinsurance collateral, or related treasury and financial services workflows.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to interpret complex agreements, reconcile data across multiple sources, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain collateral requirements, risks, issues, and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities, deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines, and support complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience working with custodians, trustees, investment managers, reinsurers, auditors, or banking partners preferred.
- Experience with collateral reporting, investment guideline monitoring, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, or audit remediation preferred.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills required; experience with Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx, or collateral management systems is a plus.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain strong attention to detail, and operate effectively in a control-focused environment.
- Knowledge of insurance, reinsurance, NAIC collateral requirements, Schedule F, trust agreements, or investment guidelines is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field; advanced degree, CFA, CPA, CTP, or relevant professional certification is a plus.
Preferred:
- Experience in treasury, collateral management, and investment operations preferred.
- Knowledge of trusts, letters of credit, custody, and insurance/reinsurance operations preferred.
- Experience working with custodians, trustees, and banking partners preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance, reinsurance, NAIC collateral requirements, Schedule F, trust agreements, or investment guidelines preferred.
