Job Description – QA/QC Engineer

Reports to:          Senior QA/QC Engineer

Job Description:

The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities to ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements while supporting the organization's strategic objectives and vision. The role is responsible for maintaining and continually improving the Quality Management System (QMS), monitoring compliance with established quality standards and procedures, supporting quality assurance and control activities across projects and operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives under the guidance of the Senior QA/QC Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities :

- Plan, implement, and monitor Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities throughout project execution to ensure compliance with client contractual requirements, approved quality documentation, applicable codes, standards, and the Company's Integrated Management System (IMS).

- Ensure per IMS, QA Document creation work flow fully understood and implemented all the time.

- Participate in Internal Kick-Off Meetings (KOM) with relevant stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of project scope, technical requirements, contractual obligations, technical clarifications, and lessons learned from previous projects.

- Preparation of Master Quality Specification Extracts-Quality for key international clients (e.g., Saudi Aramco, PDO, Shell DEP, ADNOC, and others) for review and approval by the Line Managers prior to inclusion in the quality database. Ensure client-specific technical quality requirements are accurately captured to minimize technical risks, standardize quality documentation, and provide a reliable reference for future projects, thereby improving efficiency in the preparation and review of project quality documents.

- Preparation of Project Specific Specification Extracts-Quality by identifying and consolidating project-specific quality requirements from client specifications, applicable codes, and standards to support the accurate and efficient preparation of quality documentation, minimize technical errors, and ensure compliance throughout project execution.

- Preparation of quality documentation, including Material Purchase Specifications (MPS), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) / Manufacturing Process Plan (MPP), and quality procedures, in accordance with client project specifications, and applicable international codes and standards to ensure technical requirements and compliance throughout project execution.

- Review of vendor quality documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), manufacturing and testing procedures, welding documentation, and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) procedures, to confirm compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable codes and standards.

- Participate in internal audits within the organization and second-party audits at supplier facilities, as directed by the Head quality to assess compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).

- Execute Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities throughout project execution in accordance with approved quality documents, project requirements, and company procedures, utilizing established quality management systems such as the Event Note System, Inspection Database, and Job Hub to ensure effective quality monitoring, traceability, and compliance.

- Maintain and update the QA planning database dynamically to ensure project quality deliverable.

- Collaborate with Project Managers during the early stages of project execution to support contract reviews, identify and resolve quality-related conflicts, review technical deliverables, and address project-specific quality requirements to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, applicable standards, and successful project delivery.

- Manage technical queries (TQs) related to materials, welding, inspection, and other quality-related matters, ensuring timely review, resolution, and issuance of technical clarifications prior to project commencement to support smooth project execution and minimize potential quality risks.

- Participate in project kick-off meetings, pre-inspection meetings, and other quality-related meetings for critical items and packages. Coordinate Quality Control (QC) activities at supplier facilities and liaise with Jord Inspection Engineers /Third-party inspection agencies and client inspectors as and when required to ensure compliance with approved quality requirements, inspection plans, and project specifications.

- Identify and document quality non-conformances, raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), monitor and verify the implementation of corrective and preventive actions, ensure effective close-out of NCRs, and recommend improvement opportunities to enhance quality performance and prevent recurrence.

- Perform inspection and verification activities in accordance with the latest approved drawings, project specifications, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures, and other applicable project quality documents to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.

- Ensure full compliance with all company policies, procedures, and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements while executing QA/QC activities, maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence.

- During inspections stop working when:

People’s health and safety are at risk, i.e., due to non-usage of PPE, lack of safety equipment, poor quality equipment and machinery.

- Quality related processes and relevant approved documentation are not strictly followed.

- The above duties and responsibilities are at a minimum, however, based on job needs there may be additional work required to ensure quality needs are met.

- Adhere to all Jord company policies and IMS requirements.

Skills and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.

- Minimum 5 years of hands-on shop/fabrication experience in the manufacturing of pressure vessels and heat exchangers in accordance with ASME Section II, Section V, Section VIII, and Section IX requirements. Experience with API 661, Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (ACHE), and Air-Cooled Condensers (ACC) is highly preferred.

- Strong knowledge and practical experience in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities within manufacturing and project execution environments.

- Sound understanding of manufacturing processes and product characteristics, including foundry operations, fabrication, machining, welding, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), heat treatment, surface preparation, painting, and coating activities.

- Knowledge and experience in inspection methods, testing techniques, measuring instruments, and quality verification processes.

- Ability to interpret, understand, and effectively apply on international codes, standards, procedures, client specifications, and project quality requirements during project execution to ensure compliance and successful project delivery.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, with experience in supporting, coordinating, and managing skilled technical professionals.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare technical documentation, reports, and professional correspondence.
