We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Chief Technology Office team in the role of CTOi CIB Cloud lead.

The Opportunity

Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking Cloud is accountable for the strategy, governance, engineering standards, adoption and operational management of cloud services across all Corporate and Institutional Banking functions globally.

The role holder will lead the development of a consistent, resilient and cost-effective cloud capability across Corporate and Institutional Banking, working in close partnership with the central Chief Technology Office Cloud team to support platform build, adoption and standardization. The role will provide senior leadership across FinOps, infrastructure management, risk and controls, regulatory requirements, cloud architecture, solution design and engineering practices.

What you will do:

- Define the target state for cloud adoption, platforms, operating models and engineering capability, aligned with wider Chief Technology Office, Corporate and Institutional Banking and Group technology strategies.

- Provide senior leadership across cloud engineering, architecture, infrastructure and governance communities, setting measurable objectives and developing skills, succession and delivery capability.

- Establish governance for budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, chargeback or show back, optimization and variance management. Drive transparent reporting, value assessments and cost-conscious engineering without compromising resilience, security or regulatory obligations.

- Ensure cloud platforms and workloads meet required standards for availability, capacity, performance, resilience, recoverability and operational support across their full lifecycle.

- Own the cloud risk and control agenda, ensuring effective assessments, evidence, testing, issue remediation, dependency mapping, recovery planning, scenario testing and tolerance compliance.

- Act as a credible senior technology representative in regulatory reviews, audits and assurance activities, explaining cloud arrangements clearly and ensuring findings, commitments and obligations are addressed within agreed timescales.

- Serve as the primary cloud face-off for Corporate and Institutional Banking business and technology leaders, Chief Operating Office team by translating business needs into secure, scalable and practical solutions while clearly communicating costs, risks, trade-offs, performance and priorities.

- Oversee solutions from initial demand through implementation and operational adoption, ensuring alignment with approved architectures, security requirements, data protection, identity, resilience, monitoring, recovery and regulatory expectations.

- Define and embed reusable cloud patterns, guardrails and practices covering infrastructure as code, automation, CI/CD, observability, security, resilience and self-service. Partner with the central Chief Technology Office Cloud team to shape platforms, roadmaps, service catalogues and adoption plans.

- Lead cloud adoption, infrastructure modernization, application migration, data platform and engineering productivity initiatives, ensuring dependencies, risks, costs, operational impacts and benefits are managed through to sustainable adoption and measurable outcomes.

- Working alongside Chief Technology Office central team to set enterprise cloud architecture direction, govern solution design and establish technology standards.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

- Leadership experience across cloud, infrastructure, platform engineering or technology transformation in a large, regulated organization.

- Extensive expertise in public and hybrid cloud, including networking, compute, storage, databases, identity, security, monitoring and automation.

- Proven ability to set enterprise cloud architecture direction, govern solution design and establish technology standards.

- Strong engineering expertise across Infrastructure as Code (IaC), continuous integration and delivery, observability and platform engineering.

- Experience building or operating FinOps capabilities covering cost governance, optimization, forecasting and accountability.

- Strong understanding of technology risk, control frameworks, operational resilience, audit requirements and regulatory expectations, including representing

- technology in formal reviews and assurance engagements.

- Experience partnering with central cloud platform teams to build, adopt, govern and standardize enterprise cloud services.

- Proven success leading geographically distributed direct and virtual teams to deliver major cloud migration or modernization programmes.

- Excellent communication skills with an ability to translate complex technical matters into concise, decision-ready advice for executives, engineers, risk partners, auditors and regulators.
