Job Title: Electrical Engineer Job Description
This Electrical Engineer role focuses on designing and delivering high-quality electrical systems across a wide range of project types. You will apply your technical expertise in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, and equipment selection to produce coordinated, code-compliant designs. Responsibilities
- Perform electrical design for a broad scope of project types, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient systems.
- Apply design knowledge in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, and equipment specification and selection.
- Prepare clear and accurate schematics for various electrical systems used in building and infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to develop fully coordinated designs, actively participating in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Review the electrical design work of others to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Conduct on-site investigations to verify and document existing electrical conditions and incorporate findings into design solutions.
- Develop and maintain familiarity with current electrical codes, standards, and best practices, and apply them to project work.
- Contribute to project documentation and communicate technical information effectively to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 co-op or internship experiences in MEP electrical consulting.
- Foundational knowledge of power distribution, grounding, lighting, and control systems.
- Ability to prepare electrical schematics and technical documentation with attention to detail.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Ability to conduct on-site investigations and accurately assess existing electrical conditions.
- Willingness and ability to develop familiarity with current electrical codes and standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Revit experience is preferred and considered a strong asset.
- Experience in MEP consulting environments is beneficial.
- Ability to review the work of others and provide constructive feedback.
- Interest in continuous learning and staying current with evolving electrical codes and industry standards.
Work Environment
This role is based within a small, close-knit engineering firm of approximately 21 team members across two offices. You will work in a professional design environment that emphasizes collaboration, coordination across disciplines, and high-quality project delivery. The team offers a supportive culture with a strong track record of stability and performance, reflected in a long-standing bonus structure tied to company results. This is a Permanent position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Pay for entire family medical insurance except spouse
