APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Lead the end-to-end design and engineering integration of a complex sub-system within the iPhone. Design, engineer, and validate concepts, parts and solutions using 3D CAD tools. Interact and collaborate with overseas manufacturers to ensure designed parts are mass producible. Resolve issues by conducting failure analysis on advanced instruments to determine root cause and corrective design actions. Parse and synthesize large datasets into visual summaries that clearly communicate issues and proposed solutions. Create technical drawings and test specifications for mechanical components, including callouts for GD&T, FAI/SPC, and ORT; Integrate design for manufacturability and design for assembly, and geometric tolerancing into design work. Analyze structural and functional robustness of design by working with statistical tools and techniques. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 - $225,300/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.

Experience and/or education must include:

Utilizing engineering analysis tools, including statistical tolerance analysis, process capability analysis to optimize components for structural and functional performance.
Employing failure analysis and metrology tools to control and stabilize dimensional performance and address failures during hardware development cycles.
Leading end-to-end design and integration of hardware sub-systems, including PCBs, flexible circuits, injection molded parts, stamped and/or sheet metal parts, and laser cut parts, with very tight <5micron manufacturing tolerance controls.
Understanding requirements, including manufacturing process, optics, controls and test, to reflect in the mechanical design and engineering requirements.
Utilized Solidworks CAD software to generate mechanical design models with intricate 3D geometries
Utilized Solidworks CAD drafting tools to generate and update engineering 2D drawings, employing GD&T best practices
Analyzing and parsing through large datasets using excel to drive design improvements
