APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Brainstorm concepts and solutions to haptic related challenges. Prototype, evaluate, and debug innovative ideas. Design and define mechanical components and assembly schemes. Generate detailed specifications and drawings. Analyze static and dynamic structures to quantify fundamental device performance. Participate in the development of new manufacturing and assembly processes with external vendors. Validate and characterize designs through multiple iterations. Conduct failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs) to resolve root cause and implement corrective actions. Generate new intellectual property and work in a collaborative environment with multifunctional teams that specialize in diverse areas of expertise. Collaborate with Industrial Design and System Engineering groups to determine and achieve both functional and aesthetic goals. Design for manufacturability with Process, Manufacturing Design, Technical Operations, and other cross-functional teams. Communicate multi-functionally and throughout management structure on a regular basis. Lead design reviews and design documentation releases. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $129,300 - $194,700/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience and/or education must include:

Using CAD software (NX, GD&T, Catia, or similar) to release 2D/3D CAD.
Utilizing ANSYS and FEA programs to run static/dynamic analyses.
Prototyping tool 3D printing, lathe, and CNC to test and validate designs.
Generating functional and design specifications for component and assembly quality control.
Experience in design concept development, comparing the design candidates based on key metrics, and experience presenting recommended solutions to senior engineers and leadership.
Performing failure or root cause analysis to solve complex technical issues that arise during hardware development.
Using lab equipment including oscilloscopes and DMM to take accurate and high quality measurements.
