Department Description:
TriStar Pictures is searching for a Development Trainee. We are a division of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group (MPG) that creates filmmaker-driven movies like Resident Evil, One of Them Days, The Woman King, Matilda The Musical, Happiest Season, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and Baby Driver that have the potential for both critical acclaim and commercial success. Together the team evaluates pitches, scripts, books, and articles as potential projects, nurture relationships with filmmakers, writers and producers, and guide films through all stages of development, prep, production, post-production, marketing and distribution.
Responsibilities:
- Providing administrative support (rolling calls, scheduling meetings, etc.) for executives and assisting with office tasks, supply management, and meeting setup for the TriStar offices as a whole
- Reading scripts or other submission materials and providing written and/or verbal coverage for development executives in a timely fashion
- Performing deep research and compiling informational materials on projects
- Creating lists with recommendations for directors, writers, and cast for projects in development
- Working with the team to create materials for TriStar projects (i.e.: decks, one sheets, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate student or recent graduate who has studied or is currently studying in a relevant field - In lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience.
- Passion and focus on filmmaking, with an interest in feature development
- Proficiency in office programs (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, Google Suite, etc.)
- Prior experience handling office phones
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior familiarity with film or TV creative development preferred
- Proficiency in platforms like Canva, Photoshop, etc.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $22/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
