We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Data Governance who will play a key role in establishing and operationalizing Pomerleau's data governance framework. This individual will contribute to improving the quality, understanding, protection, and value of data across the organization.

Working closely with business teams, IT, cybersecurity, data engineering, and various data owners, the successful candidate will help define and implement the policies, standards, processes, and controls that govern the management of corporate data.
What you will do

Data Governance and Management:

• Contribute to the implementation of the company’s data governance framework.
• Participate in the development, review, and evolution of policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines related to data management.
• Support the definition of roles and responsibilities for data owners, data stewards, and data consumers.
• Help establish and maintain data governance processes, including data classification, quality, security, retention, and access management.
• Ensure consistency of governance practices across business units.

Data Quality and Compliance:

• Collaborate with business teams to identify data quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Contribute to the definition and monitoring of data quality and governance metrics.
• Participate in monitoring, audit, and continuous improvement activities related to data management practices.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and corporate data requirements.

Information Asset Classification and Management:

• Participate in the identification, categorization, and classification of corporate data.
• Help maintain the inventory of information assets and associated documentation.
• Support business units in defining the value, sensitivity, and usage rules for the data under their responsibility.
• Assist in implementing controls based on established data classification levels.

Change Management and Awareness:

• Promote data management and data governance best practices across the organization.
• Develop communication, training, and awareness materials.
• Act as an advisor to stakeholders in the adoption of governance processes and tools.
• Contribute to fostering a data-driven culture focused on data quality and value creation.

Qualifications:

• University degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a role related to data governance, information management, analytics, data architecture, or a related discipline.
• Experience defining or applying governance policies, standards, or processes is considered a significant asset.
• Experience working with multiple business units in a complex environment is an asset.
• Knowledge of concepts such as: Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Catalogs, Information Classification & Protection and Data Lifecycle Management
• Experience with governance tools such as Microsoft Purview or equivalent solutions is an asset.

• Knowledge of industry frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, COBIT, or equivalent frameworks is an asset.
