Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Designs Engineer, IC&E through October 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ( PST ).
The El Segundo Refinery Instrumentation, Control, and Electrical (IC&E) team supports safe, reliable, and efficient refinery operations. The team designs, tests, installs and maintains instrumentation, process automation systems, and low voltage power systems. The team provides technical support for daily operations, reliability improvement, maintenance execution and outage execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline. However, 15+ years of industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Electrical Power Engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, or other heavy industrial industries.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, including medium/low-voltage distribution, protective relays, motors, transformers, switchgear, UPS, and power system studies.
- Troubleshoot I&E problems & issues, develop alternatives, and propose & implement solutions for long-term reliability and performance.
- Provide technical support for electrical power systems to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Specify, purchase, support install, commission and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of induction/synchronous motor fundamentals and associated. protection/control schemes, protection relays/coordination, their application, and the use of ETAP software for performing electrical studies for new design projects as well as troubleshooting.
- Desire to learn or possess knowledge of instrumentation, automation systems, control valves.
• Strong organizational, planning, and execution skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong team player (i.e. capable of building strong and productive working relationships with all stakeholders).

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $137,600 – $237,800.
