Position: Machinist
We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our Houston, TX team. The Machinist will operate Haas CNC mills and lathes to manufacture precision parts for Vanzandt products .
This is a fast-paced work environment focused on producing quick-turnaround parts . The ideal candidate must be able to work efficiently under time pressure while maintaining accuracy, quality, and safety. This position requires an experienced machinist who can independently set up and operate CNC equipment, troubleshoot machining and programming issues, use CAD software to design and modify parts, accurately measure valves and components for Engineering, and use Renishaw probing systems on CNC machines.
The ideal candidate will have strong machining knowledge, excellent measurement skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work closely with Engineering to develop and manufacture precision components.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Haas CNC mills and lathes to manufacture parts for Vanzandt products .
- Work in a fast-paced environment producing quick-turnaround parts while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Manage multiple jobs and prioritize work to meet production deadlines.
- Work effectively under time pressure and respond quickly to changing production needs.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and job aids.
- Use CAD software to design, modify, and create parts and components for manufacturing.
- Work with Engineering to develop parts and manufacturing solutions.
- Accurately measure valves, valve components, and other mechanical parts to provide Engineering with the dimensional information needed to design replacement or new components.
- Take detailed measurements of existing parts and communicate measurements and findings to Engineering.
- Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools.
- Set up, operate, and properly use Renishaw probing systems on CNC machines .
- Use machine probes to locate workpieces, establish work offsets, inspect parts, and verify dimensions.
- Install and adjust cutting tools and properly position workpieces in CNC machines.
- Set machine offsets, speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and other machining parameters.
- Monitor machine performance throughout the machining process.
- Review, modify, and revise CNC programs as necessary.
- Troubleshoot CNC programs, tooling, fixtures, and machining processes.
- Identify and correct manufacturing issues on the shop floor.
- Inspect finished parts and verify critical dimensions to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Assist Engineering with developing machining processes and determining how parts should be manufactured.
- Prepare materials for machining by cutting, shaping, drilling, or other required processes.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment operating properly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Adapt to changing production requirements and effectively handle multiple tasks.
- Assist with other machines and manufacturing operations as needed.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, and other team members to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
Experience & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7+ years of manufacturing/machining experience preferred.
- Extensive experience with Haas CNC mills and lathes .
- Ability to independently set up and operate Haas CNC equipment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds, and machine shop operations.
- Experience using CAD software to design and modify mechanical parts .
- Experience accurately measuring valves and mechanical components.
- Experience using Renishaw CNC probing systems .
- Ability to troubleshoot and modify CNC programs.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under time pressure and tight production deadlines .
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information and measurements clearly to Engineering/Managers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to assist with other machines and manufacturing operations as needed.
Work Environment
This position works in a fast-paced machine shop environment where quick turnaround and meeting production deadlines are important. The employee will work around CNC machinery, cutting tools, metal components, and related equipment and must follow all company safety procedures.

M-F 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (may be subject to change with the needs of the business)
