Position Summary:

Colorado State University is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to serve as an Accounts Receivable Systems Accountant within Business and Financial Services. Reporting to the Manager of Banner Administration, this position plays a critical role in supporting the University's Accounts Receivable systems, tuition and fee assessment processes, financial reporting, and system administration activities.

This position serves as a functional administrator and support resource for the Banner Accounts Receivable system while developing subject matter expertise in university accounts receivable operations and related business processes. The successful candidate will combine accounting expertise, systems analysis, problem-solving, and data management skills to ensure accurate financial processing, compliance with accounting standards, and effective administration of student accounts receivable functions. This position works closely with the Accounts Receivable Systems Accountant III, the unit expert for Banner Accounts Receivable, and is expected to assume increasing levels of responsibility and independence as expertise develops.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid/Remote Eligible within reasonable driving distance of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Essential Job Duties:

- Administer and support the Banner Accounts Receivable system, including system configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and implementation of enhancements to ensure accurate and reliable financial processing.
- Manage tuition and fee assessment processes by maintaining assessment tables, validating results, and coordinating implementation of approved tuition and fee changes to ensure accurate student billing and compliance with university requirements.
- Analyze and reconcile accounts receivable transactions by reviewing financial activity, resolving discrepancies, and validating the accurate flow of data between Accounts Receivable and the General Ledger.
- Coordinate critical Accounts Receivable operational processes by maintaining processing schedules, monitoring system jobs, and supporting process improvements that ensure timely and accurate execution of financial operations.
- Administer annual 1098-T tax reporting activities by testing, validating, and maintaining reporting processes, ensuring compliance with IRS requirements, and providing support regarding 1098-T reporting.

Conditions of Employment:

Remote work arrangements may be considered; however, periodic on-campus attendance may be required for meetings, testing activities, training, and operational needs. Candidates should be located within a reasonable driving distance of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field with an emphasis in accounting.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze, manipulate, and validate financial data.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and apply complex business processes, policies, procedures, and enterprise systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Three years of professional accounting experience in a complex, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with SQL, Access, reporting tools, or other data analysis platforms.
- Experience with Banner, Kuali Financial System, ODS, WebFocus, or similar enterprise financial systems. Experience participating in ERP implementations, upgrades, testing, or system administration activities.
- Higher education, public sector, or nonprofit accounting experience.
- Knowledge of IRS 1098-T reporting requirements.
