Job Title: Field Service Engineer Job Description
The Field Service Engineer plays a key role in installing, commissioning, and maintaining advanced automated robotic compounding equipment used in healthcare and pharmacy environments. This position ensures that equipment is correctly implemented, transitioned smoothly into the service phase, and kept in optimal working condition through preventive and corrective maintenance. The role combines hands-on technical work in electronics, robotics, and automation with strong communication and customer interaction to support safe, high-quality product preparation and improved workflows for pharmacy technicians.
Responsibilities
- Install and verify equipment during implementation projects, ensuring proper setup and configuration in coordination with the Service Engineering leadership.
- Share all relevant technical and project information with the Implementation Project Manager assigned to each installation site to maintain clear and consistent communication.
- Establish and maintain an effective communication channel with customers, providing professional and timely updates on installation and service activities.
- Provide technical support during the transfer of equipment from implementation to the service phase, ensuring a smooth handover and ongoing reliability.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment after it is released to production, following established procedures to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Carry out corrective maintenance on products in response to service issues, diagnosing faults and implementing appropriate repairs.
- Execute hardware and software upgrades assigned to you, ensuring that systems remain current and aligned with performance and safety requirements.
- Investigate complex service cases that require in-depth analysis, identifying root causes and proposing corrective, preventive, and improvement solutions for both hardware and software.
- Support automated robotic compounding equipment that enhances patient safety, product quality, and the working conditions of pharmacy technicians.
- Document service activities, maintenance work, and technical findings accurately, using office software tools to support reporting and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to ensure that equipment performance meets expectations and that any issues are resolved promptly.
- Travel to customer sites across the USA and designated regions to perform installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support as needed.
Essential Skills
- Strong technical skills in electronics and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment.
- Hands-on experience with robotics and automation systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of vision systems, sensors, and basic pneumatics used in automated equipment.
- Ability to investigate and resolve hardware and software issues, proposing effective corrective and preventive solutions.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with office software for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Availability and willingness to travel throughout the USA, with approximately 50% travel required.
- Motivation to work with new technologies and continuously develop technical expertise.
- Post-secondary technical education in Automation and Robotics, or equivalent training.
- Additional training or experience in electronics, mechanics, and maintenance.
- Organizational and management skills to coordinate service activities and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with the medical or pharmacy industry and automated compounding environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting complex automated or robotic equipment in field service or technical support roles.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and internal project teams.
- Comfort working independently in remote settings while managing travel schedules and service priorities.
Work Environment
This is a 100% remote field service role with significant travel requirements. The position is expected to be based in the Seattle area to provide primary support for customers on the West Coast and in Canada, while also remaining open to travel across the rest of the USA as needed. Work is performed at customer sites in healthcare and pharmacy settings, focusing on advanced automated robotic compounding equipment that improves patient safety, product quality, and pharmacy technician workflows. The role involves frequent on-site visits for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades, using modern tools, robotics, automation technologies, vision systems, sensors, and pneumatics. Work hours may vary based on customer needs and travel schedules, and the environment requires professionalism, adaptability, and comfort working around clinical and technical equipment.

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
