POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical services to the patients of Community Medical Centers, Inc. The Pharmacist reports to the Pharmacist-In-Charge.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Under the direction of the Pharmacist-In-Charge, will provide pharmaceutical services to Community Medical Centers, Inc. patients.
- Order, inventory, and dispense pharmaceutical items for Community Medical Center, Inc. patients.
- Performs pharmacist tasks including drug therapy reviews, verification, filling and medication management. Reviews, interprets and accurately dispenses prescribed medications.
- Provides consultation to patients and/or their agents with regards to all legal requirements, including: usage, drug interactions, storage, and any other pertinent information
- Assist in the implementation of a quality assurance program.
- Maintain patient profile records, billing data, and other records as required.
- Act as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel such as providing continuing education to clinic staff and provide patient education as required.
- Models a positive patient experience for staff
- Become proficient in the use of the pharmacy dispensing software
- Have the ability to use and troubleshoot problems that may arise with automated drug delivery systems
- Maintain effective communication with CMC administration to assure coordination of pharmacy services with other program components.
- Train and monitor department staff compliance with OSHA and safety policies.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, retention and evaluation of job performance of department staff in compliance with personnel policies and procedures.
- Assist in the orientation and development of new staff/students in cooperation with the Pharmacist-in-Charge and HR
- Ensures the pharmacy is in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission and 340B
- Ensures the pharmacy operates smoothly by promoting an efficient workflow, which may include assigning roles, coordinating activities among employees and soliciting/accepting feedback.
- Will strive to aid the pharmacy in reaching the goals and objectives assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed as a Pharmacist by the State Board of Pharmacy in California
- Possession of a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of pharmacology principles and practices
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical agents, dangerous drugs, and devices. Ability to recognize and advise clinicians of potential problems.
- Knowledge of current California pharmacy rules and regulations
- Knowledge of the principles, practices of development and training to conduct in-service programs.
- Knowledge of 340B rules and regulations
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission rules and regulations
- Skill in preparing records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skill in exercising initiative and judgment
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with medical staff and clinic management staff.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply written guidelines.
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and indigent care (PIC) programs
- Ability to communicate clearly: both written and verbal
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to read and note appropriate measurements. Ability to work irregular hours.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office environment within a clinic setting. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with upset people.
