Position Summary:
The LPN Employee Health Nurse supports the health, safety, and well-being of Trinity Health employees through coordinated clinical assessments, injury follow-up, immunization programs, and ongoing health monitoring activities. This role responds to on-site employee health concerns, provides first aid, and assists with the evaluation of work-related injuries to support safe, timely return-to-work planning. Working collaboratively with Human Resources, department leaders, and external partners, the LPN Employee Health Nurse helps ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and advances workplace health and safety initiatives. The position applies clinical expertise, maintains accurate documentation, and supports preventive programs that promote a safe, supportive environment for employees while contributing to the protection of patients and the broader care community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical assessments, provide first aid, and manage follow-up for employees experiencing illness or injury while at work.
- Coordinate immunization programs, exposure monitoring, and health surveillance activities in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with return-to-work case coordination by communicating with employees, department leaders, and appropriate agencies regarding work restrictions and abilities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records, documentation, and reports in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Provide education to employees on health promotion, infection prevention, injury prevention, and workplace safety practices.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and safety personnel to support compliance with OSHA, CDC, and organizational health policies.
Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current or temporary LPN License in North Dakota or compact LPN license.
Educational Requirements:
- LPN program as evidenced by licensure.
Experience Requirements:
- Sufficient previous experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of work-related injuries.
- Experience in assessing injuries and providing first aid.
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of WSI, OSHA guidelines, and CDC recommendations.
- Proficient in nursing skills and nursing assessments.
- Ability to understand health concepts and terminology.
- Good communication, attention to detail, strong leadership, and effective interpersonal relationship skills are a must.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and be highly organized.
Physical Requirements:
The LPN Employee Health Nurse frequently walks and stands while evaluating employees, administering immunizations, and supporting onsite assessments. The role may involve lifting or moving light medical supplies, positioning employees for testing, and performing fine motor tasks associated with injections and documentation. Adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities are essential to conduct accurate assessments, read clinical information, and provide clear guidance to employees.
Environmental Requirements:
Work occurs in clinical office settings, employee health areas, and various hospital departments, with potential exposure to infectious illnesses, bodily fluids, and medical equipment. The role requires strict adherence to infection-control practices, PPE requirements, and workplace safety protocols. The environment includes fluctuating demands, interactions with employees experiencing illness or injury, and responsibility for maintaining calm, professional communication during urgent or sensitive situations.
