We are seeking a dependable and technically skilled PC Deployment Technician to support computer hardware deployment and end-user technology activities for a client in Baltimore, Maryland.

Position Overview

The PC Deployment Technician will be responsible for preparing, configuring, installing, troubleshooting, replacing, documenting, and transporting desktop and laptop computer equipment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience deploying and maintaining Windows-based computers, excellent troubleshooting abilities, strong attention to detail, and a customer-service-oriented approach.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Baltimore, Maryland . The successful candidate must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and the ability to safely lift and move computer equipment and accessories weighing more than 40 pounds.

The position may also require the operation of company transportation vehicles.

A CompTIA A+ certification is required.

A criminal background check and professional reference checks are required.

Key Responsibilities

- Load computer equipment and related IT assets from a central location and safely transport and unload equipment at designated installation sites.
- Deploy desktop and laptop computers, including system configuration, setup, drive mapping, printer mapping, peripheral installation, and user data transfer.
- Install and configure required software applications and additional applications as needed.
- Migrate user data from legacy computers to replacement systems.
- Verify that operating systems, applications, peripherals, network connectivity, and other required components are properly configured and operational.
- Troubleshoot hardware, driver, connectivity, operating system, and workstation-related issues.
- Configure Microsoft Outlook and troubleshoot workstation-level email and Microsoft Exchange connectivity issues.
- Track and document hardware assets using established inventory and deployment procedures.
- Maintain accurate deployment, asset, and equipment documentation.
- Communicate deployment status, technical issues, and resolutions to management.
- Remove, replace, and decommission existing computer systems as part of equipment refresh activities.
- Remove and properly document hard drives and other designated equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Transport retired or replaced equipment back to the designated central warehouse.
- Follow established procedures for equipment handling, inventory control, deployment, security, and documentation.
- Provide professional, courteous, and responsive customer service to end users throughout the deployment process.
- Work independently and effectively with minimal immediate supervision.
- Perform other related deployment, desktop support, and technical duties as assigned.

Required Technical Knowledge

Candidates should have working knowledge of:

- Desktop and laptop computer hardware configuration
- Windows client operating systems
- Client/server operating system architectures
- Workstation-level Internet connectivity and integration
- Standard web browser configuration and operation
- Microsoft Outlook workstation configuration
- Outlook archiving and retrieval
- Microsoft Exchange connectivity and communication
- Peripheral device installation and configuration
- Hardware and driver troubleshooting
- Basic network and workstation connectivity
- IEEE wiring standards

Required Qualifications

- CompTIA A+ certification — REQUIRED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience deploying, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and/or maintaining client computer systems
- Hands-on experience with desktop and laptop hardware
- Experience installing and configuring software applications and peripheral devices
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations
- Ability and willingness to work full-time onsite in Baltimore, Maryland
- Ability to lift, carry, load, and move computer equipment and accessories weighing more than 40 pounds
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to follow established technical, safety, asset-management, and documentation procedures
- Successful completion of required criminal background and professional reference checks

Preferred Qualifications

- Associate degree or other two-year degree from an accredited college or university in:
Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Information Technology
- Engineering
- Business
- Or another related scientific or technical discipline

- Experience supporting large-scale PC refresh or technology deployment projects
- Experience with enterprise IT asset management and inventory procedures
- Experience with Microsoft Windows environments
- Experience supporting Microsoft Outlook and Exchange
- Experience performing user data migrations
- Experience working in a field services, desktop support, or IT deployment environment

Physical & Work Requirements

This position involves significant onsite activity and the physical handling and transportation of computer equipment.

Candidates must be able to:

- Lift and move computer equipment and accessories weighing more than 40 pounds.
- Load and unload computers, monitors, peripherals, and related equipment.
- Transport equipment between designated deployment locations and a central warehouse.
- Travel between assigned installation and deployment locations as required.
- Work onsite for the duration of scheduled deployment activities.
- Operate company transportation vehicles when required.
- Safely handle and transport IT equipment in accordance with established procedures.
