2 temporary full-time positions for 4 months intended specifically for students enrolled in an architectural design technology, interior design, urban planning or related co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience diploma program. This position will be working within the Infrastructure Services Department and support the implementation of infrastructure accessibility actions in the 2025-2029 Corporate Accessibility Plan. This unique opportunity will allow you to get an understanding of real-world infrastructure barriers that people with disabilities face and how to address them to make Edmonton a more accessible city.
Responsibilities:
- Help deliver key infrastructure actions in the Corporate Accessibility Plan, focusing on facility assessments, checklists and construction guidelines
- Assist with planning and hosting staff learning sessions and accessibility awareness events
- Support project reviews to ensure accessibility standards are met
- Provide day-to-day administrative assistance and technical support for accessibility projects
- Maintain and refine accessibility assessment tools and field checklists
- Perform hands-on accessibility assessments of City facilities
- Organize, compile, and upload field assessment data and summary reports to the digital dashboard
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an architectural design technology, interior design, urban planning or related post secondary diploma co-op program. Other education programs with a work experience component may also be considered
Assets:
- Basic knowledge of accessible design and understanding of the impacts of barriers in the built environment on people with disabilities
- Experience using Google Workspace applications or equivalent applications
- Demonstrated ability in reading architectural plans
