The Opportunity
The Senior Risk Analyst serves as the primary Second Line of Defense (SLOD) program owner for Issue Management oversight within the Property & Casualty (P&C) portfolio. This individual contributor role is responsible for independently managing the issue review lifecycle, evaluating supporting evidence, documenting defensible conclusions, identifying portfolio-wide trends, and providing effective challenge to ensure high-quality risk management practices.
This role partners closely with risk, compliance, audit, and business stakeholders across the P&C organization to monitor issue remediation efforts, assess risk exposures, and provide actionable insights to leadership. The ideal candidate combines strong risk management expertise, project management discipline, analytical capabilities, and data fluency to improve oversight processes and enhance portfolio risk reporting.
In addition to Issue Management responsibilities, this role supports broader portfolio analytics, reporting, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and decision-making across the P&C organization.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Chesapeake, VA, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL

What you'll do:
- Partners with key stakeholders in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and document risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third-party operations using advanced knowledge.
- Communicates results of risk assessments to governance committees, business process owners and various levels of leadership.
- Implements new risk policies, practices, appetites and solutions to ensure holistic understanding and management of risks according to industry best practice.
- Enhances and contributes to strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks.
- Applies advanced knowledge to utilize or produce analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies.
- Serves as a key contributor in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate and mitigate current and emerging risk events.
- Formulates stress test plans for a line of business or the enterprise including the evaluation of results and framing of contingency plans in partnership with key business stakeholders.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
Experiences that will support your success:
- 6 years of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting or other related operational area.
- Or advanced degree/designation in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or other discipline relevant to risk management and 4 years of work experience in a discipline relevant to risk management.
- Risk management experience in a complex institution and/or highly matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution management and ability to effectively challenge at all levels of management and influence business outcomes.
- Ability to effectively work with both internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques and decision-making abilities, to include demonstrated ability to effectively make data-driven decisions.
- Proactively identifies potential concerns and follows-up to resolve issues.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
What sets you apart:
- Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance experience with demonstrated knowledge of risk management practices within Claims, Underwriting, Product, Distribution, or Go-to-Market functions.
- Experience leading or overseeing Issue Management programs, including issue identification, root cause analysis, remediation validation, corrective action tracking, and regulatory or audit-related commitments.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skillset with experience pulling, cleaning, organizing, and interpreting large datasets to identify trends, themes, emerging risks, and business insights.
- Advanced proficiency in data and reporting tools, including SQL, Python, Power BI, and other analytical platforms used to support reporting, automation, and risk-based decision making.
- Experience within Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, or Governance functions, with the ability to provide effective challenge and communicate actionable risk insights to senior leadership
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $103,450 - $197,730 .

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
