Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is seeking a dependable Unarmed Gate Security Officer to provide overnight coverage in Nederland, Colorado. This position is responsible for monitoring vehicle traffic, controlling authorized access, communicating with vendors and other approved visitors, and supporting overall security operations at an assigned location.
The ideal candidate is attentive, professional, and comfortable working independently during extended overnight shifts. Because the position involves vehicle operations and changing weather conditions, candidates must be capable of driving safely in inclement weather and responding promptly when security concerns arise.
Key Responsibilities
Gate & Traffic Management
- Monitor vehicle activity at the assigned access point throughout the shift.
- Verify that incoming vendors and other authorized parties have appropriate access before allowing entry.
- Communicate professionally with drivers, vendors, and authorized personnel.
- Maintain an orderly flow of traffic through designated access areas.
- Follow established access procedures and assignment-specific instructions.
- Identify unusual vehicle activity or access concerns and report them promptly.
Security Support
- Maintain a visible and professional security presence at the assigned gate.
- Remain alert to activity occurring around entrances, access points, and surrounding areas.
- Assist the roving security officer with site coverage and security-related tasks when requested.
- Communicate important observations and developing concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow company procedures, post orders, and supervisor instructions throughout the shift.
Incident Response
- Respond promptly to security concerns, incidents, alarms, or other situations requiring attention.
- Assess conditions and communicate relevant information to supervisors or assigned security personnel.
- Request additional assistance when an incident exceeds the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Remain calm and professional while handling unexpected or challenging situations.
- Complete required follow-up documentation after incidents.
Vendor & Visitor Communication
- Interact with vendors and authorized visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide clear directions and access-related information when appropriate.
- Confirm required authorization before permitting entry.
- Explain established access procedures when questions arise.
- Maintain accurate communication with other security personnel regarding expected arrivals, departures, or unusual activity.
Vehicle Operations & Weather Conditions
- Operate a vehicle safely when required as part of assigned responsibilities.
- Drive cautiously during snow, rain, ice, or other adverse weather conditions.
- Adjust driving practices to changing road and visibility conditions.
- Maintain awareness of environmental conditions that could affect safe travel.
- Report significant roadway or weather-related concerns through the appropriate communication channels.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license required .
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle in changing and inclement weather conditions.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with vendors, visitors, coworkers, and authorized personnel.
- Strong observation and situational-awareness skills.
- Ability to respond promptly to incidents and changing conditions.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently during extended overnight shifts.

- Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous security, gatehouse, access-control, patrol, or related experience.
- Experience interacting with vendors, contractors, drivers, or visitors.
- Previous experience working overnight shifts.
- Experience operating vehicles in snow, ice, rain, or other challenging weather conditions.
- Familiarity with access-control procedures and visitor verification.
- Previous experience communicating by radio or other security communication equipment.
- Experience working alongside mobile or roving security personnel.
