CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN – STRUCTURAL BUILDING DESIGN
We have a Summer 2027 opportunity in our Omaha (or Denver location is an option) office for a Civil Engineering Intern focused on structural engineering and building design projects. The right candidate will have completed at least their second year in a Civil Engineering program and be interested in supporting design teams on commercial, institutional, industrial, and other building projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structural systems. Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of satisfactory progress toward a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering; completion of 3 years toward degree preferred.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0 preferred.
- Interest in structural engineering and building design, including structural analysis, gravity and lateral systems, foundations, framing layouts, connection concepts, and construction document preparation.
- Coursework or project experience in structural analysis, steel design, reinforced concrete design, wood or masonry design, foundation engineering, engineering mechanics, or construction materials preferred.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis or building information modeling software preferred; experience with Revit, AutoCAD, RAM Structural System, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, or other structural design tools is a plus.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document design assumptions, ask thoughtful questions, and coordinate with team members. Classes or experience with presentations, technical writing, building information modeling, field observations, or construction administration are a plus.
