SUMMARY: Primary job focus is Quality Control Field Inspections or “Observe, Report, and provide oversight for Remediation” for specific Black Box project installations & safety activities.
This position will be responsible for the collaboration and development of “Process Improvement” items based on the performed inspection audits.
Job activities focus on the assessment of Black Box specific developmental needs to drive training initiatives while identifying suitable training solutions for employees.
This position actively observes to then creatively design and implement effective methods for Quality Assurance/ Quality Control through training and ‘Zero Defect” performance.
Quality Control field inspections within the “Structured Cabling Installation Environment” will be observed, reported, and remediated based on ICT Industry codes, standards, and best industry practices.
Field Inspector will report and enforce the proper processes and procedures as required for all structured cable and low voltage installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting project activities.
This will include but not be limited to Structured Cabling as utilized in laboratory, manufacturing, Data center, and office environments. This will cover both ISP (Inside Plant) and OSP (Outside Plant) Black Box projects.
Coordination, collaboration and communication will be the key to success in this position.
This position will identify and organize the needs for delivery of OHSA10 & OSHA30 certification of Black Box employees as required.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Administers spending against the departmental budget.
- Proactively ensures that all products and services conform to recognized and sound implementation/engineering practices, applicable codes, regulatory, reliability, and to all quality requirements in contract specifications.
- Lead from the front, in terms of customer engagement and technical know-how.
- Audit and Collaborate to refine the Black Box quality program and implement company-wide best practices and enhancement ensuring continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with in-house Black Box/BICSI trainers to coordinate training and maintain applicable certifications and requirements for the quality program and field resources including, but not limited to: product, industry, and client-specific standards and requirements.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Field Leadership and HR on suggested requirements for skills and certification tracking/management.
- Review key customer engagements and requirements to develop successful and repeatable strategy for responses.
- Advise Project Management in development and upkeep of skills assessments analysis and detail training plans for key accounts and projects.
- Mentor and coach on site Quality Assurance/Quality Control Team members to enable them to credibly “Observe, Report and Remediate” any quality situation that may arise.
- Ensure effective communication between quality, operations and sales teams along with other key internal stakeholders.
- Track and report internal and client facing metrics meaningful to the business and that will aid in constant process improvements and efficiencies.
- Ensure all relevant groups are actively engaged, informed and “on deck” when required for large scale complex and/or competitive prospect first-of-kind and proof of concept engagements as dictated by “Lessons Learned” sharing.
- Engage with and maintain mutually beneficial feedback relationships with customers and key infrastructure manufacturers as required to support field inspection activities and remediation opportunities.
- Build administrative documentation for project related Close Out packages as dictated by client specifications, Division 27, and scope of work (SOW) direction.
- Provides input via reports, pictures and documentation to demonstrate site delivery process and performance.
- Conducts field inspections for quality and attention to BICSI, Industry, Manufacturer and associated Black Box standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum experience and education include:
- BICSI RCDD preferred or ability to achieve RCDD within 12 months (company compensated).
- Hold a BICSI Tech (TE350 Cert) or ability to achieve within 6 Months (company compensated).
- Documentable certifications preferred (train up as needed) and actual ICT experience required.
- 5 or more years of in the following capacity required: Verifiable ICT field installation experience – preferably as a Foreman or Field Leadership position
- Information and Communications (ICT) industry experience and knowledge of relevant ICT codes, standards, industry best practices
- Positioning and managing quality and/or training initiatives, standards and technical materials
- Awareness and comprehension of Six Sigma Quality Improvement Processes desired.
- Awareness and comprehension of OHSA10 and OHSA30 safety certifications desire
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills required

- Additional proficiency in Visio, Bluebeam, Plan Grid, BIM 360 and Revit a plus
Travel Requirements:
Up to 60% annually: To include audit and inspection activities of field operations, tradeshows, and industry events. Must have or be able to obtain a US passport for international travel. Other travel as required.
Work Environment:
The typical work environment is a remote/home office. However, due to the frequent and extended travel of the position, must be self-sufficient working in other remote environments to include hotels, airports, and customer sites among others and covering various time zones and varying work schedules.
