We are seeking a Stage Specialist as part of our growing Studio Operations and Services team based out of Brooklyn, New York. This position will be responsible for supporting all stage and production support needs and reports to the Senior Manager, Studio Operations and Services (NSB).
The Role
The Stage Specialist is responsible for coordinating and supervising all activities on the stages to ensure seamless production operations. This role ensures that all stage resources, equipment, and logistics are efficiently managed to support the creative and technical needs of the production, while maintaining a safe and organized environment for cast, crew, and production vendors. This is a demanding and fast moving position that requires someone who is a proactive and positive thinker, and able to exercise good judgment and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support daily stage operations and production activity at NSB: Partner with production teams and landlord to support production with power, electrical, and rigging requirements.
- Supervise daily production operations across stages, the studio lot, and the fence line.
- Responsible for communicating production requests with the site team and other key stakeholders.
- Facilitate studio access for facility repairs and maintenance.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with productions, landlord, vendors, external partners and Netflix colleagues.
- Coordinate stage scheduling, logistics, and access while maintaining comprehensive documentation and reports.
- Proactively address potential operational issues during live events, filming days, and general production.
- Collaborate with Studio Safety, Production Health & Safety and landlord to identify, report and address any safety issues or hazards on site.
- Enforce and convey site guidelines and Netflix policies to production personnel.
- Support inventory tracking, procurement, and budget management for stage-related resources.
- Facilitate site and stage tours for production location scouts and internal stakeholders.
- Arrange drive-on permissions, keep on-site staff updated on daily activities, and distribute production schedules.
- Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures related to stage operations.
- Perform additional studio-related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in live-action production or related entertainment fields.
- Comprehensive technical expertise in facility and stage management, including HVAC, power distribution, rigging specifications, and floor load capacities.
- Strong understanding of local union rules and guidelines.
- Well-versed in local production regulations, permitting, safety protocols, and EHS mandates (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, special effects).
- Effective, decisive problem solver skilled at navigating shifting priorities and strict deadlines in high-tempo production environments.
- Self-driven professional adept at taking initiative, working autonomously, and seeing projects through to completion.
- Collaborative partner skilled in managing multiple simultaneous productions in dynamic settings.
- Strong communicator with a knack for building solid, trust-based relationships across internal teams, external partners, and vendors.
- Promotes a positive, supportive, and highly professional work culture.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs); familiarity with Airtable is a plus.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Eager to adapt to emerging technologies and methodologies in stage operations.
- Safety and/or First Aid certifications are preferred.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of hourly pay; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in hourly pay versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The hourly range for this role is $46.15 - $72.12.
