Davidson is hiring a MBSE Software Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO. who will work with the Air Force designing, developing, and deploying software for the United States' next-generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an opportunity to start with a clean slate, rather than revamping a decades-old missile.
Job Responsibilities:
- O to 2 years' experience with bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Computer Science ) or related discipline . Four (4) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- Analyzes customers' requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
- Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities
- Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies
- Provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology
- Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations
- Develops technical documentation to include system architecture and system design documentation
- Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans
- Collaborates with Architects and Product Owners to resolve systems engineering technical considerations, issues, risks, and conflicts
- Holds ultimate accountability for the technical integrity, quality, and successful execution of all systems engineering deliverables within the assigned area of responsibility
Basic Qualifications :
- Foundational knowledge of the DoD systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system architecture, interface definition, and verification and validation, gained through academic coursework, internships, research, or engineering projects.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and SysML , with the ability to develop and interpret basic system models.
- Foundational understanding of software and systems architecture, including software-to-software and software-to-hardware interfaces and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Ex posure to core industry-standard engineering tools, such as Cameo Systems Modeler , MagicDraw , and IBM DOORS
- Foundational u nderstanding of software development lifecycles utilizing Agile and Scaled Agile Framework ( SAFe ) methodologies.
- Ability to translat e high-level mission and system-level requirements into software requirements, functional components, and user stories
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with systems, software, and hardware engineering team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and the ability to read or understand code in languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
- Exposure to safety-critical or mission-critical software development concepts and applicable engineering standards is a plus
- Exposure to DoD systems, aerospace, defense, or other complex system-of-systems engineering environments through internships, academic projects, research, or prior work experience
- Familiarity with software cybersecurity concepts, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Secure Software Development Framework (SSDF) principles
- Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) environments
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar engineering collaboration and project management tool
- Internship, co-op, capstone, research, or project experience in systems engineering, software engineering, aerospace/defense, or a related technical field is preferred.
