KEY OBJECTIVE:
As a key member of commercial underwriting department, you would be responsible for independently managing a Life Sciences renewal portfolio of Property, Casualty & E&O business while also producing some new business.
The Life Sciences Underwriter must develop book growth, maintain superior relationships, and will have accountability for overall financial performance of their portfolio. They will identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources, identify cross-selling opportunities, conduct broker planning/goal setting including monitoring of progress and make regular broker and insured visits.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Underwrite and assess Life Sciences liability, property and E&O exposures for middle market accounts.
• Analyze submissions and renewals, evaluate risk exposures, and determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
• Profitably manage an active renewal portfolio and new business pipeline of small to large sized accounts.
• Contribute to differentiated Customer Retention and Sales results.
• Develop and establish superior relationships with key brokers and insureds.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to an engaging work environment.
• Monitor booking, retention, account rounding, and renewal change accuracy.
• Contribute to projects as required to improve the business and continually develop personal skills.
• Stay current on market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to inform underwriting decisions.
• Experience underwriting Life Sciences exposures is an asset.
• Proven ability to solve problems independently and with success.
• Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to follow-up independently.
• Excellent customer service and sales skills; experience in dealing with brokers.
• Completion of University degree and/or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of one to three (1-3) years of underwriting or other professional work experience.
• High level of responsiveness and efficiency when working with stakeholders.
• Ability to respond as a team player, in a multi-task environment.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
• High degree of technical knowledge attained in current job.
• CIP or CRM designation or completed CIP/CRM courses considered an asset.
