Job Title: Experienced Project Buyer Job Description This experienced Project Buyer role focuses on leading procurement activities for complex construction projects, with dedicated opportunities in solar, wind, and broader project portfolios. The position is responsible for purchasing materials and services, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery that aligns with project specifications and quality standards. The role offers a collaborative environment, exposure to high-impact projects, and the chance to grow a long-term career in a dynamic, innovative construction setting. Responsibilities

- Purchase materials, equipment, and services at the most favorable overall value while meeting quality, quantity, and specification requirements.
- Prepare and propose purchase transactions for review and approval by appropriate decision-makers before finalizing commitments.
- Arrange returns and replacements for products that do not meet quality or specification standards, coordinating directly with suppliers.
- Track order status from initial placement through delivery and proactively communicate updates and issues to project teams.
- Facilitate and lead internal and external meetings to coordinate procurement activities, resolve issues, and align stakeholders.
- Enter and manage purchase agreements, maintaining regular contact with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Create, issue, and update purchase orders while monitoring supplier performance and delivery schedules.
- Visit project job sites or offices at least annually to strengthen working relationships and gain deeper understanding of field needs.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at various organizational levels.
- Provide strong customer service to internal stakeholders by responding promptly to procurement needs and offering analytical support.
- Use active listening and clear communication to gather requirements, negotiate terms, and incorporate diverse feedback.
- Support project management teams with procurement-related insights, documentation, and coordination as needed.
- Perform all other procurement and project support duties as assigned to ensure successful project execution.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
- 4+ years of procurement experience and/or experience in a similar purchasing or project buying role.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing processes and procedures, including sourcing, negotiation, and contract administration.
- Negotiating skills with the ability to secure favorable terms while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
- Strong organizing and planning skills to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to support internal clients and respond to changing project needs.
- Analytical skills to evaluate pricing, proposals, and supplier performance and to support data-driven decisions.
- Active listening skills and openness to diverse input and feedback to improve procurement outcomes and collaboration.
- Ability to operate comfortably in ambiguous situations and live in the grey, making sound decisions with incomplete information.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and materials is preferred.
- Understanding of the construction industry and its project delivery methods is preferred.
- Project management experience, including coordinating schedules and deliverables, is preferred.
- Experience supporting projects in sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, data centers, advanced manufacturing, or sports facilities is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to build long-term professional relationships with suppliers and project stakeholders.
- Interest in career growth within a collaborative, safety-focused, and innovation-driven construction organization.

Work Environment The role follows a hybrid work model, with approximately three days per week in the office and two days working from home. There is potential for flexibility in this schedule as needed to support project demands and individual circumstances. The work environment is highly collaborative, with frequent interaction across project teams, procurement colleagues, and field personnel. Employees contribute to complex, high-impact construction projects in sectors such as healthcare, renewable energy, data centers, advanced manufacturing, and sports facilities. Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $128000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
