Job Title: Quality Control Manager Federal Construction Job Description
This role oversees quality control for a large federal construction project, ensuring all work meets contract specifications, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. The position runs through the end of the year, with additional projects anticipated at other locations, offering continued opportunities to apply and expand your expertise in quality management on similarly sized construction initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead all quality control activities for a federal construction project of approximately $35 million in value, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project-specific quality control plan, including inspection and testing procedures and documentation standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify that construction work meets quality requirements and is completed in accordance with safety standards and contractual obligations.
- Identify, document, and track nonconformances, working closely with project teams to resolve issues promptly and prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate and oversee quality-related testing and inspections performed by internal teams and third-party providers, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting.
- Review and verify construction materials, methods, and workmanship to ensure they meet project and federal standards.
- Prepare clear, detailed quality control reports and maintain accurate records to support project documentation and compliance audits.
- Collaborate with construction and engineering teams to address quality concerns, provide guidance, and support continuous improvement across the project.
- Ensure quality control practices align with safety requirements, including OSHA standards, and promote a culture of safety and quality on site.
- Support transition and knowledge transfer to future projects at other locations, contributing to consistent quality control practices across multiple initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Active Quality Control Manager (QCM) certification.
- Bachelors degree in construction, engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal construction projects of similar size, around $35 million in value.
- Demonstrated expertise in construction quality control processes and procedures.
- Strong understanding of federal construction standards, regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in applying OSHA 30 principles and safety practices within a construction environment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with construction, engineering, and inspection teams.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inspections, reports, and quality records across a complex project.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience managing quality control for multiple projects or phases, including follow-on work at different locations.
- Background in large-scale construction environments with complex stakeholder and compliance requirements.
- Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to standardized quality practices across projects.
- Comfort working with project management and reporting tools commonly used in construction quality control.
- Capability to mentor and guide site personnel on quality expectations and best practices.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily on an active federal construction site, working closely with construction and engineering teams to oversee quality control activities. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albany, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
