Team Mission
Give Cat Financial one governed platform where work moves from idea to delivery, and where AI agents and automation take on the repetitive work so our people can focus on decisions.
Artemis is Caterpillar Financial's IT delivery platform, supporting work from demand intake through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. The platform provides common workflows, milestones, and tools that help teams work more consistently, efficiently, and effectively across the delivery lifecycle. Artemis is also a key enabler of Cat Financial's AI transformation strategy, embedding AI-powered capabilities into the way teams plan, deliver, and support technology solutions.
About the Role
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of new capabilities for the Artemis platform, leveraging full stack engineering and AI technologies to transform ideas into scalable, production-ready solutions. This role partners closely with technical and business stakeholders to solve complex challenges, establish engineering best practices, drive modern software delivery through CI/CD, and ensure AI-enabled capabilities are secure, reliable, and compliant. As a senior technical leader, you will influence the platform's architecture, mentor development teams, and help shape the future of one of Caterpillar Financial's most visible technology transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead proof-of-concept and development work for new capabilities, and partner with the Team Leader and development team to take them into production
- Design and build full stack features across React/TypeScript front ends, Python or Node.js services and APIs, and AWS cloud services
- Drive UI/UX and front-end architecture decisions so Artemis stays intuitive, consistent, and easy to use as it grows
- Build AI-enabled capabilities and agent-based workflows, including prompt and context design, evaluation, and guardrails that keep them safe and reliable
- Design and build integrations with enterprise systems such as Snowflake, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, and GitHub
- Establish reusable patterns, coding standards, and shared components for the platform
- Write and maintain automated tests, and help build the test coverage and pipeline practices that move the team toward CI/CD
- Support production deployments, and provide production support as needed: troubleshoot complex issues, lead root-cause analysis, and drive lasting fixes
- Review pull requests in GitHub and mentor developers, reducing key-person dependency and building depth across the team
- Work with architecture and security partners to test emerging technologies, guide their implementation, and ensure solutions meet Cat Financial's standards and audit requirements
- Demo new capabilities to stakeholders and turn their feedback into clear technical next steps
What You Bring
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and supporting production applications
- Strong front-end experience with React and TypeScript
- Strong back-end experience building services and APIs in Python or Node.js
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (for example serverless compute, API management, storage, and managed AI services)
- Experience building integrations with enterprise systems (for example Snowflake, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, GitHub)
- Experience working with relational databases and REST APIs
- Proficiency with GitHub-based workflows, including branching, pull requests, and code review
- Hands-on experience building applications with generative AI, such as working with large language models, agent-based workflows, retrieval, and evaluation
- A track record of turning prototypes into production-ready, maintainable solutions
- Experience writing automated tests and supporting release and deployment processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through ambiguous problems
- Clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
Top candidates will have
- Experience delivering AI agents or LLM-based solutions in production
- Experience in financial services or other regulated industries (SOX, audit, IT risk)
- Experience setting architecture patterns, coding standards, or reusable components for a team or platform
- Experience mentoring developers or serving as technical lead for a development team
- Experience building automated test suites and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience designing component libraries or shared UI frameworks
- Understanding of secure application development practices
- Experience with workflow, low-code, or process automation platforms
- Experience with Agile delivery and Azure DevOps
What Success Looks Like
- Proofs of concept are proven quickly and delivered to production with the team
- Established patterns and standards are adopted across the platform
- AI capabilities deliver measurable improvements to delivery workflows
- Automated test coverage grows, moving the team closer to CI/CD
- Platform knowledge is shared, reducing key-person dependency
Degree Requirement
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required.
