THE OPPORTUNITY (position overview)

Iron Bow Technologies is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support an existing, Federal Government customer, the U. S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. You will join our team of Engineers already in place with the Museum and provide monitoring, engineering, deployment of new services, rollout upgrades, and support on-site infrastructure, cloud and web services. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for technology, particularly ensuring that end-users remain productive.

You will be responsible for providing technical and problem resolution support, along with maintaining the networking infrastructure and environment. This is an onsite position at the customer site in Washington, DC, with occasional support at the customer’s facility in Bowie, MD. Travel to the customer’s regional sites is seldom but may be required.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT (job description)

The Network Engineer will join a highly motivated team supporting all aspects of the customer’s IT services and have responsibility for the performance of the wireless and wired infrastructure supporting about 700 users. The ideal candidate brings expert level knowledge of routing and switching, and of SolarWinds.

- You will assess and resolve network related incident/case and change tickets; prioritize and respond to tickets as appropriate while striving to comply with SLA goals.

- You will design, install, configure, and maintain networking equipment, such as firewalls, routers, and switches as well as ensure availability and capacity of networking environment.

- You will participate in client CCB meeting – ensure change tickets are updated to reflect status, including obstacles.

- You will configure networking to support virtual, physical, and AWS servers and desktops.

- You manage WLAN controllers and wireless access points.

- You will provide onsite and remote monitoring, incident management, problem management, change management, release management, and IT operations and maintenance.

- You respond to SolarWinds alerts (we have SolarWinds integrated into our ITSM) and using Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for malicious behavior, suspicious activity, or security policy violations.

- You will execute patch management activities to keep systems up to date on security and functional baselines per client guidelines.

- You identify and resolve issues that affect LAN/WAN performance and provide incident and problem resolution support.

- You engage with service providers (HP, Dell, Microsoft, IPS providers, etc.) and ensure the goals and objectives associated with network area are achieved.

- You take ownership of project issues and serve as a Solution Liaison for vendors and third parties to resolve complex issues that require communication with outside vendors.

- You will support the documentation of processes, changes, and implementations, as well as candidate articles to include in the KnowledgeBase repository.

- You participate in our coordinated 24x7 on-call support for time-sensitive needs (1 week per month rotation).

- You ensure work aligns with Iron Bow policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.

SKILLS THAT DRIVE SUCCESS (required skills, education, experience and certifications)

- You are results oriented and strive to attain desired goals, to include meeting SLAs for time-committed deliverables and providing support and resolution for customer requests, as well as an adaptive problem-solver who can swiftly assess and address customer pain points with innovative solutions and can adapt to evolving needs and changing/competing priorities that ensure successful outcomes.

- You bring the ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment, along with the ability to balance workload and prioritize.

- You’ve been responsible for supporting large-scale network operations, preferably within a federal customer space.

- You have experience with working case / change tickets in an ITSM, such as ServiceNow.

- Bring the ability and know-how to create and/or update processes, complex diagrams (network or otherwise) using Lucid Charts or comparable application.

- You bring experience using SolarWinds, Nexus, and installing, configuring, troubleshooting Cisco Hardware, HPE/Aruba Wi-Fi switches and Central WiFi Cloud Management.

- Ability to identify and communicate ideas for technical environment and implementation improvement.

- You will work with our Service Desk Manager to provide input for and participate in weekly and monthly client briefings to express successes, status, and challenges.

- You bring a minimum of 8 years of progressive, technical (hands-on) experience in IT, including a minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical analytical position with the responsibility for successful network monitoring, operations, and support within a 24/7/365 operation

- Definitely will need to bring the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the project team, and with the Leadership Team.

- CCNP certification is required.

- Prefer that you hold a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant discipline; will consider additional years of experience in lieu of the BS degree.

- Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance (requires favorable drug screen results, credit check, and fingerprint check.)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Up to 10% travel (a USHMM location in Bowie, MD, and limited/possible travel to the customer’s regional site(s)).
