The Clinical Research Data Coordinator I (DC I) is responsible for supporting day-to-day data management activities for oncology clinical trials and research studies. The position assists with collecting, abstracting, entering, and maintaining clinical research data and study documentation. Responsibilities include reviewing source documentation, completing data entry, supporting query resolution, maintaining research records and databases, assisting with protocol-required data collection activities, and participating in data quality and compliance processes. The DC I collaborates closely with Clinical Research Coordinators, investigators, sponsors, and research staff to support high-quality study conduct.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Clinical Trial Coordination and working within specialized oncology research teams, including the Thoracic and Head and Neck (THN) Program, the Data Coordinator I plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of clinical research data. This position contributes to the successful execution of clinical trials and supports Fred Hutch's mission to advance cancer research and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

- Assist with collecting, abstracting, and coding clinical and research data from medical records, source documentation, and research records according to protocol and study requirements.

- Enter study data into electronic data capture systems, research databases, and sponsor systems while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

- Review assigned data for completeness and identify routine discrepancies, missing information, or data queries for resolution.

- Support maintenance of study databases, case report forms, study records, and research documentation.

- Assist with quality control activities, including routine audits and verification of research data against source documentation.

- Monitor assigned study activities for adherence to protocol requirements and report potential deviations or concerns to supervisor or study team.

- Request, organize, and maintain medical records and study documents from internal and external sources as needed for research activities.

- Assist with tracking protocol-required assessments, study milestones, and research participant data requirements.

- Communicate with research coordinators, providers, study teams, sponsors, and other stakeholders regarding routine data collection and documentation needs.

- Support sponsor, monitor, regulatory, and internal review activities by preparing and organizing study data and documentation.

- Maintain ongoing communication with data sources to support timely collection and submission of research data.

- Participate in departmental meetings, training activities, and quality improvement initiatives related to clinical research data management.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- High School graduation or the equivalent.

- Minimum of two years of college.

- One year of experience in medical records, cancer registry, or related field.

- Strong computer skills and experience working with data bases.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Associate degree in a healthcare, life sciences, public health, or related field.

- Knowledge of medical terminology.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.50 to $34.88 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
