How you will make an impact:
As the Distinguished Software Architect on the AI&T R&D Digital Product team, you will design and deliver scalable, secure, AI-enabled and cloud-enabled software solutions for regulated medical-device products, while driving architectural strategy, leveraging Generative AI to accelerate software development, and mentoring teams in a complex, highly regulated environment.
- Lead architectural design and full-stack development across mobile and web platforms, ensuring scalable and reusable code aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define software requirements and translate them into robust, compliant solutions.
- Mentor development teams on best practices in software development, DevOps, and Agile methodologies, fostering continuous improvement.
- Drive risk management and quality assurance through rigorous validation, documentation, and adherence to medical device software standards (e.g., IEC 62304).
- Contribute to strategic planning, including roadmap development, system architecture decisions, and innovation initiatives.

This is a fully on-site role based at our corporate headquarters in Irvine, CA.
What you'll need (Required):
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 12 years of experience relevant experience or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria - OR - Master's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field, with 10 years of experience relevant experience or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria
- Progressive software engineering experience, including significant experience in software architecture and full-stack development.
- Experience developing software for regulated medical devices or healthcare products, with knowledge of medical-device software lifecycle, risk management, verification/validation, and standards such as IEC 62304.
- Strong experience designing and delivering cloud-based and cloud-native software solutions, including scalable architectures, APIs, services, data platforms, security, and DevOps.
- Demonstrated fluency with Generative AI tools and technologies, including hands-on use of AI coding assistants/agents and LLM-based development workflows, with the ability to identify practical applications of GenAI to software engineering and product development.
- Experience leading architecture and development across web, mobile, and/or distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure automation.
- Experience working closely with product, engineering, design, quality, regulatory, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience developing software roadmaps and making system-level architecture decisions.
What else we look for (Preferred):
- Experience in developing software using languages such as .NET, .NET Core, Angular, Python, React Native, or Java (Android Studio), & infrastructure automation skills
- Database experience, including knowledge of Microsoft SQL and mySQL
- Experience in the full SDLC
- Ability to work closely with product, engineering and design teams
- Working with leadership and senior management in developing a software development roadmap and mobile strategy
- Experience working on Agile teams

For California, the base pay range for this position is $159,000 - $226,000 (highly experienced).
