Job Title: Project Engineer Job Description
The Project Engineer will support a team of Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers on a large semiconductor project, focusing on the electrical scope of work at a major manufacturing facility in Boise, ID. This role manages contract design changes, project documentation, and schedule tracking while coordinating closely with construction and engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of complex electrical construction work.
Responsibilities
- Track construction contract design changes and updates and ensure all stakeholders receive timely, accurate information.
- Monitor project construction progress and maintain detailed job cost tracking to support financial control and reporting.
- Coordinate design changes within the construction team, ensuring alignment between engineering, field operations, and project management.
- Assist with preparation of change orders and maintain the project change order log to document scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
- Assist with development and maintenance of the overall project schedule, including updates and analysis of schedule impacts.
- Assist with development and maintenance of submittals logs and RFI logs to ensure timely reviews and responses.
- Prepare project submittals and submit clear, well-documented written RFIs to the client for clarification and approval.
- Read, interpret, and analyze construction schedules to identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain extensive document controls, ensuring that drawings, specifications, and project records are organized and up to date.
- Utilize job cost tracking tools and methods to support forecasting, reporting, and cost control efforts.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, field supervisors, and subcontractors to support day-to-day project execution.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and the client, providing updates, clarifications, and documentation as needed.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changing project needs and timelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support successful delivery of the semiconductor electrical construction project.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a Project Engineer position.
- 2+ years of Project Engineer experience on semiconductor or data center projects.
- Experience supporting data center and/or semiconductor construction projects, particularly in an electrical scope.
- Electrical construction experience, ideally with an electrical subcontractor.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong working knowledge of document creation, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction schedules.
- Extensive document controls experience, including management of drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
- Working knowledge of job cost tracking and basic project financial controls.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt quickly, make decisions, and contribute wherever needed.
- Excellent human relations skills and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for client correspondence, RFIs, and internal reporting.
- Experience with medium- to high-voltage electrical systems in a construction environment.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar tools for reviewing and marking up construction drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Leadership experience in a field environment, supporting or directing on-site construction activities.
- Estimator or Project Supervisor experience in electrical or general construction.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Combination of relevant field experience and formal education in construction or engineering.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access is a plus for data management and reporting.
- Background in semiconductor, data center, or other mission-critical facility projects.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing logs, documentation, and schedules.
Work Environment
This is a salaried, on-site position supporting a major Micron project in Boise, ID, with a typical Monday through Friday schedule of approximately 40 hours per week. The role is embedded in an active construction environment, working closely with field teams, engineers, and project managers on complex electrical systems in a semiconductor facility. A phone or phone allowance is provided to support communication needs, and relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Will provide benefit info when candidates are in the interviewing stage.
