About the role

The Careers and Pathways Lead is responsible for the design, delivery and continuous improvement of V/Line's early careers and workforce pathway programs. The role will drive all aspects of program delivery and will contribute to developing talent pipelines through graduate, apprenticeship, cadetship, internship, scholarship and work experience programs while supporting workforce capability, succession planning and internal mobility outcomes.

Our early careers programs are award recognised, including being named AAGE Top Intern Program 2026 and a Top 10 Internship Program in 2025 .

Key accountabilities include :

- Develop, implement and continuously improve V/Line's early careers and workforce pathway and mentoring programs.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of graduate, internship, work experience and other employment or mentoring pathway programs.
- Partner with leaders, hiring managers and other stakeholders across the business to develop early careers and talent pathways that    address workforce capability gaps.
- Provide coaching, guidance and career development support to program participants.
- Establish and maintain appropriate governance, reporting and quality assurance processes, monitor program performance and diversity  outcomes, evaluate effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with educational institutions, industry partners and community stakeholders, and represent V/Line  at careers events and industry forums .

Location & Travel Considerations

- Based at 452 Flinders Street, Melbourne.
- Availability for some regional travel and face to face training delivery.

About you

You will bring strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to proactively develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders and influence and articulate the benefits of programs to build engagement and leadership buy in.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

- High level of organisation, project and time management skills, including demonstrated ability to analyse issues and determine priorities while working to conflicting deadlines, and to take initiative and work under limited direction.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and evaluating workforce pathway programs, including the ability to influence stakeholders, gain organisational buy-in and drive measurable talent outcomes.
- Demonstrated facilitation skills (both online and in person)
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and managing both early careers programs, such as graduate, trainee, work experience and internships or other emerging talent and diversity or inclusion initiatives, retention and succession programs.
