The Opportunity
The Department of Health Sciences in the College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure earning, lecturer position. This is a face to face on campus position located at the UCF main campus with a start date in August 2027.
Candidates are required to be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with substantial full-time teaching experience in an academic institution and a demonstrated commitment to high-quality instruction, student mentoring, curriculum development, and academic program administration.
The successful candidate will teach required undergraduate courses, including a General Education Program-approved nutrition course, an advanced, senior-level Health Sciences seminar or other courses consistent with departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise. They will also contribute to instruction in the department’s forthcoming graduate program in Nutrition Science and Dietetics.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the selected candidate will serve as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator. This is a critical role that supports the quality, effectiveness, and continued development of the department’s undergraduate curriculum. The coordinator will work collaboratively with department and college leadership, faculty, staff, and university partners to advance curricular best practices, facilitate continuous program improvement, support student recruitment and success, and ensure fulfillment of institutional and General Education Program requirements.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach required undergraduate courses, including a General Education Program-approved nutrition course, an advanced, senior-level Health Sciences Seminar or other courses consistent with departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise
- Contribute to instructional and supervised practice aspects of our forthcoming Nutrition Science and Dietetics Coordinated Program.
- Use evidence-based, inclusive, and student-centered teaching practices, including appropriate interprofessional education activities.
- Mentor students in their academic, professional, and career development.
- Coordinate undergraduate curriculum review and revision, prepare and manage curricular actions, including the development and submission of assessment plans, results, reports, and program improvement actions, and promote evidence-based curricular and pedagogical practices.
- Coordinate the review and maintenance of General Education Program courses to ensure continued alignment with university standards, learning outcomes, assessment requirements, and reporting expectations.
- Conduct transfer course evaluations and provide recommendations regarding course equivalencies, substitutions, and related curricular matters.
- Conduct institutional effectiveness activities and contribute to academic program review, accreditation, and other institutional reporting activities, as applicable.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, staff, and administrators to support the consistent implementation of undergraduate academic policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and participate in undergraduate recruitment, outreach, orientation, and student engagement activities.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees, governance activities, interprofessional education initiatives, and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (i.e., PhD, DCN, DrPH, etc.) in Nutrition, Dietetics, Leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of application.
- Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Minimum two academic years of college-level teaching experience as the instructor of record. Teaching experience gained as an instructor of record during doctoral study may be included.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six or more years of full-time teaching experience as a faculty member and instructor of record at a baccalaureate-granting college or university.
- Strong record of at least one of the following: teaching, mentorship, or program leadership.
- Experience with curriculum development, curricular review, and academic program administration.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
