About this role
Homey is building the operating system for UK residential property transactions: one AI-native platform connecting conveyancing, mortgages and sales progression. Our group includes an SRA-authorised conveyancing firm and an FCA-regulated mortgage broker, so our product runs real, regulated transactions every day, used by home buyers and sellers, conveyancers, case handlers, mortgage advisers and estate agents.
Buying a home is one of the most stressful things people do, and the tools behind it are often confusing. We want a Senior UI/UX Designer in Colombo who can make complex, high-stakes workflows feel simple, for clients on their phones and for professionals working through hundreds of cases. You will be the most senior design voice in our Sri Lanka team, working directly with product managers, engineers and UK experts, and we pay at the top of the Sri Lankan market to hire the very best.
What you will own
- End-to-end product design. Take features from problem to shipped: research, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes in Figma.
- User research. Run interviews and usability tests with UK clients, conveyancers, case handlers and partners, and turn what you learn into clear design decisions.
- Design system. Own and grow our design system so web and mobile products look and behave consistently, and engineers can build quickly from it.
- Complex workflows made simple. Design case management, client onboarding, ID and document upload, and progress tracking for regulated legal and mortgage processes.
- AI-native experiences. Design how people work alongside AI agents: what AI drafts, what a human checks, and how to make that clear and trustworthy.
- Quality in delivery. Write clear specs and annotations, work closely with engineers during build, and review what ships against the design.
- Measure and improve. Use analytics (PostHog) and user feedback to find friction, and iterate on what you ship.
- Raising the bar. Set design standards and rituals, run design critiques, and mentor other designers as the team grows.
Requirements
Must have
- 6+ years in UI/UX or product design, including at least 3 years designing digital products for a global product company, international scale-up or overseas clients (UK, US, Europe or Australia)
- A strong portfolio showing end-to-end work on real shipped products: the problem, your research, the options you explored, the final design and the result
- Expert in Figma, including components, auto layout, variables and interactive prototyping
- Has built or maintained a design system used by engineers
- Hands-on experience running user research and usability testing, and acting on the findings
- Has designed complex, data-heavy web applications or dashboards as well as consumer-facing mobile or web flows
- Excellent written and spoken English, and confident presenting design decisions to senior stakeholders in the UK, Europe or US
Nice to have
- Experience in PropTech, legal tech, fintech, insurance or another regulated domain
- Experience designing AI-powered products or conversational interfaces
- Accessibility expertise (WCAG)
- Comfortable with basic HTML/CSS or front-end prototyping tools
- Has mentored or managed other designers
We are hiring for the top end of the market. Please include a link to your portfolio. If you can show products you have shaped that real users love, and the numbers that prove it, we want to hear from you.
