About this role

Are you eager to join our Underwriting Governance team and create your own impact?

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is motivated to learn, collaborate, and support project-based initiatives that enhance underwriting discipline.

About the Role

This temporary role provides a distinctive opportunity to contribute to one of Swiss Re's Advance with AI (AwAI) initiatives within an MVP and to help shape the future of underwriting at Swiss Re.

As a cross-BU initiative, the Underwriting Governance Re-imagination project aims to reshape underwriting governance into a structured, AI-enabled framework that supports future underwriting processes and decision-making capabilities.

Throughout the project, Underwriting Standards will be reviewed and simplified, reorganised, converted into a machine-readable format, and then migrated to a new platform replacing the current Compass solution.

The successful candidate will work with senior stakeholders from P&C Re, Group Underwriting, Portfolio Management, and the AwAI programme, gaining valuable experience at the intersection of underwriting, technology, AI, and business transformation.

Key responsibilities:

- Assist with reviewing, simplifying, reorganising, and migrating P&C Re Underwriting Standards into the new governance framework and platform.

- Lead weekly discussions and stakeholder engagement activities to collect input, address questions, and build alignment.

- Monitor delivery progress, highlight risks and dependencies, and escalate issues as needed.

- Participate in testing, validation, and adoption efforts in preparation for the MVP launch.

About the Team

The UW Governance team, part of UW Excellence, strengthens underwriting governance and operational discipline across P&C Re. We’re a diverse team based across Zurich and Munich, partnering with Lines of Business to embed standards, streamline underwriting processes, and measure outcomes. Our team plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of underwriting at our organization through strategic initiatives and governance frameworks.

About You

- General underwriting knowledge, particularly a sound understanding of how underwriters use Underwriting Standards and best practices in their work.

- Ability to understand governance intent and translate it into clear and actionable requirements.

- Proven ability to manage stakeholders and collaborate effectively.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- An interest in digitalisation, automation, and the evolution of underwriting capabilities.

- Full proficiency in English.

These are additional nice to haves:

- Interest in AI applications in underwriting and governance

- Experience supporting projects or process improvements initiatives

- Experience in preparing training materials or supporting learning programs

- A talent for simplifying complex topics and communicating them effectively to varied audiences

The base salary range for this position will be shared with you during the interview process.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
