About this role

The Position:

Join Boehringer Ingelheim's IT Enterprise Data Platform (IT EDP) team as a Power BI System Engineer and play a key role in operating, governing, and continuously enhancing our global Business Intelligence platform.
The role ensures a secure, scalable, and compliant Business Intelligence ecosystem supporting global business domains, enabling trusted, governed self-service analytics and data-driven decision making.

Duties & Responsibilities:

In this role, you will

- Administer and govern the enterprise Power BI tenant aligned with IT EDP standards.

- Provide support and incident management; lead root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Assist users if they need consulting advice to build their own reports.

- Organize and support activities related to the Power BI Community.

- Manage capacities (Fabric), performance tuning, cost optimization, and workload balancing.

- Implement and monitor security and compliance (Azure AD integration, RLS/OLS/CLS, data sensitivity, GDPR compliance).

- Oversee integration with enterprise data platform (Dataland).

- Maintain platform documentation, standards, and knowledge base.

Requirements:

- Extensive experience administering Power BI at enterprise scale.

- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.

- Strong communication skills, stakeholder engagement, and troubleshooting.

- Deep understanding of security, governance, and compliance in regulated environments (e.g., pharma).

- Experience with automation using REST APIs, and Software-as-a-Service concepts.

- Solid understanding of data modeling, semantic layers, and analytics patterns.

- Expertise with SQL and familiarity with Python, or Spark.

Nice-to-have Qualifications:

- Experience in large, global organizations with distributed data ownership.

- Microsoft certifications (PL-300, DP-600).

- Experience with monitoring tools and observability practices.
