About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Software Developer/Security Administrator for the Legal Department located in Midland, MI!

In this role, you will work closely with legal professionals, business stakeholders, and IT teams to help design and implement software applications, automate business processes, and analyze data to support informed decision-making. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build technical expertise while contributing to innovative solutions that enable the legal team to better serve the organization.

Responsibilities

Development, maintenance, and support of Legal Department applications, including:

- Work with senior developers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and implement solutions.

- Troubleshoot application, database, workflow, and integration issues.

- Develop enhancements and bug fixes using C#, .NET, SQL, and related technologies.

- Assist in modernizing legacy applications using a combination of the .NET stack and the Microsoft Power Platform.

- Carefully validate application changes, data updates, queries, integrations, and workflow logic before deployment.

- Participate in testing, documentation, and deployment activities.

- Learn Dow Legal’s systems, terminology, processes, and data requirements.

- Build enough legal and business-domain knowledge to understand the purpose and impact of the supported applications.

Security administration for Legal applications, including Operational Support and Reporting & Monitoring:

- Act as primary support contact for security-related incidents and requests.

- Troubleshoot access issues for users.

- Coordinate with IT infrastructure, IAM (Identity and Access Management), cybersecurity, and application support teams.

- Create and update operational work instructions.

- Understanding of retention, records management, and legal hold concepts.

- Monitor security-related system events.

- Track access changes and privileged activities.

- Produce audit, compliance, and user-access reports.

- Identify governance gaps and process improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications

- A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking. In lieu of a degree or relevant military equivalent, 8+ years of relevant working experience can be considered.

- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

- A degree discipline in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Understanding of basic software development practices, including requirement gathering, debugging, testing, and documentation.

- Foundational experience with the Microsoft .NET ecosystem, including C# and ASP.NET.

- Experience with a modern database management system such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.

- Working knowledge of SQL and basic database concepts.

- Familiarity with Git-based source control.

- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar coding assistants, including the ability to use these tools responsibly to accelerate development, troubleshoot issues, and improve code quality.

- Exposure to the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and related technologies.

- Exposure to modern frontend technologies like Angular or Blazor.

- Basic understanding of REST APIs and application integrations.

- Exposure to cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure.

- Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and role-based access concepts.

- Exposure to enterprise application development or application support.

- Stakeholder Management: Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
