About the Role
As a Security Specialist Intern, you will work within the Data Center Security team and play a hands-on role in the day-to-day physical security operations of Amazon's data centers. You will collaborate with security vendors, analyze operational data, and help identify improvements to surveillance systems, access controls, and security procedures.
This is not a desk-only role. You will engage directly with the people, systems, and processes that keep Amazon's most critical infrastructure safe.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate with vendors involved in new security construction, repairs, daily security operations and patrols, and planning.
- Analyze security metrics and data to identify trends and recommend improvements
- Make suggestions on improving electronic surveillance systems and access controls
- Help develop and deliver guidance to data center occupants on reducing false alarms
- Write reports and create presentations on the status of physical security operations for management
- Assist with planning and coordinating security-related projects
- Support incident documentation and follow-up processes
Internship Structure
Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours per week) for 12 consecutive weeks. This position requires the intern to report to work on site daily. Intern schedules are typically day schedules. Intern schedules are typically day schedules, Monday through Friday.

About the team
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
Basic Qualifications
- In pursuit of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Risk Management, Security Management, Criminology or a related field, graduating in 2027
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment, with strong time management skills
- Own vehicle is recommended as reliable transportation to the data center facility (note: public transit option is not available)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing
- Interest in physical security operations, including surveillance systems, access controls, and incident response
- Interest in analyzing data to identify security gaps and recommend improvements
- Familiarity with security policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks
